Stephen's Story
OK, so I didn't actually graduate from Los Al, but I did attend Pine JH and Los Al for my soph year. I graduated from a small school on the Main Line outside Philadelphia which was terrible uneventful. At least compared to the nights Dudley, Chamberlain and I scaled the fence surrounding the Air Base golf course to snag a few beers from the vending machines. Hey, the beverages were cold and cheap. The only problem was having enough quarters and totig them around.
I graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Mathematics and emphasis in Computer Science. Does anyone remember Mr. Nichols? The math teacher at Pine...Was he the worst or what? The only thing he taught me was how a boring teacher can almost ruin your future. I finished high school taking only one other math course...basic algebra. And barely passed that.
I failed the basic math competency entrance exam at this dinky community college back east. I didn't know what I wanted to do but I knew I had to stay in school. And I pretty much breezed through high school..more interested in girls than higher learning. :)
I was required to pass a non-credit course before I could t...Expand for more
ake any of the other math courses. It took me three semesters to pass (mostly because I was still more interested in chasing tail)
Four years later I graduated from San Diego State with a B.S. in Mathematics/Computer Science. Do you believe that?
Although I consulted/did contract work for a few years, my career as a Software Engineer for over twenty years was mostly with two companies, TRW Vehicle Safety Systems which was a start up and ultimately market leader in automotive air bag manufacturing and technology (twelve yrs) and Intel (seven years).
I am now working on my own developing software applications for Android mobile devices, the google platform.
My father lives in San Clemente where I frequently visit and surf. I love SC. I also scuba dive and travel often. I have been all around central america and south pacific islands scuba diving and surfing.
Here is AZ most of my friends have moved so I am not quite as active as I once was, playing fairly competitve volleyball (sand and court) and softball. I had a ski boat for a few years and had buddies that went to Lake Powel each year. Nowadays, I mostly ride my bike, do the gym thing and hike.
