Stephen's Story
Life
Attended Catalina 61-63 - I was a military brat and attended 4 high schools. Graduated from U 0f A with a degree in aerospace engineering. Joined the Air Force and flew fighters, aircraft maintenance officer, and aeronautical engineer. Married for 4 years to a Catalins HS grad and remarried when I was stationed in Thailand to a local girl with one child. Later was stationed in England and Italy then Oklahoma where we had another child. I then left the Air Force and went to work as an AF civilian engoneer and program manager. Moved to Ohio, bought a small farm and have been there ever since. In 1999 my kidneys failed from a genetic disease and I received a transplant in May 2002. Our oldest son, 35, died from liver cancer in 2001. I also was fortunate enough to be able to retire in Mar 2002 and we have been traveling in our mot...Expand for more
orhome ever since. Our youngest son, 22, is in the Army in Virginia. Son left Army in 2010 and s living nearby.
Update: Moved to Marble Falls TX 40 miles NW of Austin in 2006, ten miles from nearest town of 6,000, on an acreage a mile off the pavement. Pretty much our idea of Heaven! I've been busy doing volunteer work and building things in my shop from 100 yr old salvaged lumber. Benjamars, my wife raises koi and tropical plants.
Workplace
After graduation from the University of Arizona, I went into the Air Force, flew fighters for 8 years including two combat tours, got grounded for medical problems, worked as a maintenance officer and engineer, left the Air Force for an Air Force civilian job, spent the next 20 years helping to design and manage the latest military aircraft, then retired in March of 2002 after a 34 year career.
