Stephen's Story
Life
It's 2006 and I just made 27 years old. WOW I'm dmm near 30. I recently relocated from Chicago to Atlanta for employment reasons. I hate it! I miss Chicago and I'm sure I'll return at some point. Still single, no kids and I'm ok with that. I recall being in Pastor Shaw's Bible Class and having my a$$ handed to me by the girls in the class because I told them that family life for me wouldn't start until I was around oh... 32ish. I'm on that time line still. I enjoy my singleness and I enjoy being able to move about without having to find a babysitter.
I've been going to a lot of weddings of a lot of classmates and receiving pictures of first born. How nice, I'm really glad to see everyone doing well. As for me I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do career wise. I thought white people were crazy when they said they need to "find themselves" well I never thought I'd say this but I am still searching. Right now I'm debating a career in Corporate Law that will start with law school. Finishing my Flight Training and becoming an airline pilot or going to business school and getting my MBA.
Mean time I've been traveling and enjoying things and trying to deal with the challenges that life hands to me on a daily basis. The good news is I am doing well. Up until September of 2005 I was living in Logan Square (an up and coming spot on the Northside of Chicago) and I drive a nice german car! After a trip to Paris and London where I went to start (finding myself) I realized that I wanted more and that would come with more education and working my way up the corporate ladder which in itself is a daily challenge. I woke up in the middle of the night and had that epiphany, the "oh my god my 10 year highschool reunion is next year!" Then I thought, "hell it's for Shiloh" I hope everyone comes out or makes an effort. I'd like to see how people are doing. I only keep in touch with a few people and last I saw a lot of people was at a funeral.
All an all since I left Shiloh I have had a nice roller coaster of a ride that started at Flight School in Oklahoma, took me to NASA as an intern in Huntsville Alabama then back to Illinois to finish a degree. I even had time to go and spend a summer doing the Disney College Program. Next stop is Either Law School - Looking at Georgetown or Business School - Georgia State. I have been fortunate to see my family grow and as of yet not suffer any losses of family members. Updates to come stay tuned!
School
Ok now for the dirt. I thought I'd be a sport and put up m...Expand for more
y list of fame. First off I have to say that I have a very clear memory that goes back to my days in Ms. Martin's Nursery. I just have to say that the cool thing about Shiloh was how the community was close. If you didn't see people at school you saw them at church or some other church related function for that I am very grateful.
I had a lot of crushes which started in Kindergarten. Note: I mean no disrespect to the people that I mention in this little snippet I have nothing but love for all my shiloh folk! I don't know, I guess you can say I had a thing for older women. I had the biggest crush or Debbie Van Lange, All the Graham Girls are hot! Cynthia Stuart HOT! Shelly Shurney HOT! To this day I think David Graham is the Coolest, smoothest, suavest person. Mia Slaughter and LaQuisha Smith Made my senior year Funny As he!! You would have had to been there. They were a comedic Dynamic Duo Ms. Scott (Kindergarten teacher) was one of my favorite teachers along with Mrs. Shaw and Mr. McKinney. I feel I learned the most from them. I Wish Mr. Van Lange never left as Principal! and I Had a healthy fear of Ms. Palmer Although I never experienced her wrath directly, the stories were intimidating enough to were you didn't have to tell me twice. Ms. Talbert by far one of the coolest connected to her students teachers ever! Mr. Robinson - Extremely Talented individual I was nearly brought to tears after hearing him play the piano at Hyde Park Church. Was it just me, or looking back some of the janitors really creeped me out! (no offense) Mrs. Fisher and Mr. Giddings as Principal???? what's with the English teacher made Principal thing? No FURTHER COMMENT.... I have to say Mrs. Price in high school was a good friend she has a wonderful heart.
Other little things I miss just because... The Pandemonium caused by frequent visits from roaches, bees or sometimes mice in the classroom. Mrs. Stuarts friendly smile in the cafeteria and The Fries OH LAWD The fries on Fridays that Mrs. Rozier used to make. The crazy parents that would come to beat their kids in front of class because they were bad ( I know it's morbid but you laughed just like I did!) The rumors about Ms. Love having a wig... It should have been on the news so we could get updates! The most infamous I can recall is the one that said during week of prayer in the sanctuary during prayer she took it off scratched her head and placed it back on??? HMMM I wonder. Again I hope I haven't offended anyone again it's all in good fun and love for each individual.
