Stephen's Story

Life 22 marathons run. last was in 2001---Have done alot of quality cycling in recent years. Difficult to find quality time to run and juggle other stuff. (like reading good books-I collect the rare and hard to find-Dad says I'm quite a historian) Bests: Marathon 3:20; 10K 39:46, 5K 19:08, 5mile 32:00 (all approximate 34years of age) In 1976 when President Ford came he signed my Eagle Scout card. Since he was the President, and Remembering the "We Need Scouting Commercials" I was very honored considering he was an Eagle Scout himself. Ford had a tough Presidency, but he brought honor back to the position. History lesson- other Eagle Scouts- Jim Lovell, Eisenhower, Perot, Glenn, Armstrong Terry, Gary and Kelly Englert lived on Utah Street. I remember their Mom and Dad were cool. I remember their race cars and race tracks + it was their Dad that made my Dad keen on the idea of building a go-cart. Terry and Gary's faces looked like their small little dog back then. Terry, Gary, Mario, Ronald Man, and I were in first grade together. Our teacher was Ms. Smith. Ronald was promoted early from our motley first grade gang and sent to second grade. We went to Mass every day for a while in elementary school unfortunately that was too early a time to discern a call to SJ ("The Jesuits" The Pope's-Marines) School Southwest Texas State University I messed up and made 2 C's in accounting (Intermediate 1 and income tax 1) ---- (I decided not become CEO (many are overrated)so I don't earn enough in 1 year to fully retire - But it would be cool if I was that wealthy to retake those courses and manifest a no grade curve situation. Fresh out of school in public accounting I worked with a guy that never went out during college. I should have been that intense. I passed 3...Expand for more
parts of the 4 part CPA exam while still in undgrad I messed up in high school- only 63rd----definetly lacking in the focus department. College I lived with Andy Martin my second semester in college. Man we both were a mess (me psych wise in addition to neatness). I was bad, I caused Andy way to much grief too!!! I didn't get college down until my Junior year- But for the last 90 hours I hit the 3.0 mark. Workplace I didn't mess up here. At 43 I took a severence package from a billion dollar company I slaved for that sent us all packing and used it to put more letters after my name. - Not MBA but ARe, and AIAF - The letters CPCU (Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter) are still in the works (Due to mandatory accountants CPE those letters will come after 2 more courses). I spent 80,000 dollars total going back to school. Thank God my parents invested heavily in the first round of education. Call Don Eddelman (SWT Grad) Producer agent for all your insurance needs. I count beans don't call me to ask about insurable loss exposures and risk management (these are questions for Don). Now boys and girls if your really sharp and I know you all are: You'll see that my calling in life has been to become a wiz bang heavyweight global reinsurance accountant\analyst. Now the scary part about heavyweight! The more you learn the more you realize how much that you don't know (and you know alot). (That's scary) Jerry Jones built a new stadium across the street. I voted against the revenue bond proposal for its construction. I did enjoy just walking across the street back to my bed after the U-2concert. I have seen the kids come from BYU,OU,Nebraska, Texas,Arkansas,Baylor and Texas A&M come to play in the stadium. I hope they got some study time on the bus or plane.
