STEPHEN's Story
After leaving Chadron for UNL and leaving UNL before Graduating I roamed the country for a few years spending some time in Montreal, British Columbia, and New York City before landing in Grand Island where I met Mary. We were married 6 months later. Mary gave us three great kids-2 daughters and 1 son. They have given us 4 grandchildren. Sadly Mary died after we were together for 40 years. She had always told me that we would never make our 40th anniversary and she was correct. She died 3 months prior to it./ We buried her on our 40th.
We had moved to Lincoln after 10+ years in GI and a try at living in Chadron for a year. In Lincoln I finished a BS and a MS in Education. I retired from UNL after 341/2 years as maintenance manager at the student union and teaching Industrial Technology Education. Since Mary died I have been spending time working on our '51 Studebaker truck and riding to places around the country that we had planned to see together.
I am still in the house that we purchased 35 years ago and intend to be there until Bright Eyes (cat)...Expand for more
that Mary left me with kicks me out.
My recent travels have taken me on a cemetery tour of Nebraska of immediate family and ancestors. I have taken trips to Yellowstone Park, Teton Park-Jackson Hole, Maggie Valley North Carolina, The Blue Ridge Parkway the Great Lakes, The Grand Canyon, points in the southwest, Seattle, Salt Lake and many spots in between here and there. More trips are planned as long as I am able to ride.
Addendum: After almost 9 years alone, I met a lovely lady. Bobbi is a youngster of 70. She lost her husband of 30+ years several years ago. We met by chance at a car show and have came together. I sold my house and she hers and we have purchased a nice 'craftsman style' cottage together.
Bobbi travelled to Powell Wyoming with me for Judy's, my sister, funeral when she died and things have moved along since. Bobbi & I took the trike up to Deadwood SD for the three-wheeler ralley in mid-July. We had a great time roaming the Black Hills and about.
Bobbi and I got married in Sturgis, at "The Hitchin' Post"while we were there.
