Stephen's Story

Life (revised 8/6/2014) Aloha, That pretty well sums it up as I have been in Hawaii since 3/2/62. After BHS (1961), I was employed by my beloved uncle (Sam-USAF) until early 1965. I was able to start college that spring and graduated in 1969 with a BBA in accounting and a major in finance. Then on to the wild and crazy world of the CPA in the national offices of then Ernst and Ernst (now EY--my son works in their Times Square office). Unfortunately or fortunately, the CPA life didn't suit me so back to Honolulu and graduate school with a graduate assistanceship. But wait, somebody wanted me enough to employee me so I dropped the grad school stuff. Went to work making small business loans for start up companies while also being the company controller. While there I was hired away by the largest real estate developer of the Pacific (Ala Moana Center was the flagship development, for those who have visited here). But alas, I am too independent for my own good so I went on my own and have been selling and developing real estate since. I am now down to 2...Expand for more
big clients and managing our "stuff". I live on the beach about 15 miles from downtown Honolulu. I am married to an Ohio girl who is now a retired librarian. We have three boys (architect-AIA-Honoluu, MBA-Orlando, CPA-NYC). Two are married and we have five grand children (1 boy & 4 girls). Now that our kids are on their own it allows us a good deal of time for our own pursuits. We have a home on nine acres on the Island of Kauai and fly there about once a month (alas, all good things must come to an end and we have placed the property on the market for sale). We travel almost every other month to the mainland US and enjoy visiting friends and family more than anything. We keep an SUV there and do lots and lots of driving and choo choos. We did some travel in Asia but didn't really care for it. I think we like the wide open spaces of the west the best. I will be 72 this week (12/6/15) and probably better start putting together the ole bucket list!. I am really looking forward to seeing you all in 2016! Aloha and best wishes, Stephen Williams
