Steve's Story

Reunion!!!! July 30th, 2016. Milhi Class of 74. Email me at boydree74 at yahoo dot com for info. June 1, 2016 Back in Milwaukie, Oregon. Retired from overseas work in the Middle East. I came back from the Middle East, hoping never to have to return. But, I couldn't find a good Engineering job in Portland, after 4 months, I took a job down in Del Rio, Texas, right on the Mexican Border, at Laughlin Air Force base. I bought a huge house in Foreclosure, and spent a year working on the house part time, while working, and fixed it all up and put it on the market. Beautiful house, all new double glazed windows, new everything, with a new Bungalow (bachelor pad/mother-in-law suite in the back. Enclosed the porch for a Sun room, replaced all the plumbing and fixtures, and put it on the market for $245,000 ($65.00 per square foot!) Now have dropped it to 198,000 and it hasn't sold in two years. Nobody even looks at houses there, anymore. Life - Sept 2010 Gosh, I've been home from Kuwait for just over a year. We're living in Del Rio, Texas, right on the Mexican Border, and I'm woking at Laughlin AFB, back as an Environmental Engineer. It's still hot, but not like the Middle East. Feel free to contact me if you can figure out the following CODE: Boydree74 at yahoo dot com. Steve May 24, 2009 Greetings from Kuwait!!! It's hotter than Afghanistan and Iraq. It is only May 24th, but it is 115 degrees, and blowing sand. Sand, Sand, Sand. I am at Udairi Army Airfield, Kuwait, about 23 clicks (15 miles) from the Iraq border. My hooch is about as big as a king size bed, for the whole thing. I'm the Quality COntrol Manager for the Airfield, working for Ch2MHill on a joing venture with DYNCORP. This place is nice and safe, comparitively, war is not too far away, and winding down. No fighter jets to wake you up every few hours! The Food, ARMY DIning Facility, is almost as good as Iraq an...Expand for more
d Afghanistan, though I hope to lose some weight. Just got back a couple of weeks ago from a Mediterranean Cruise with Marcia, Her mom, My Mom, LISA-My SIster, and Marcia's Aunt- Marilyn. What a GREAT TRIP! We started in Barcelona, then went to Rome, Corinth and Mycenaae Greece, Izmir and Effesus Turkey, ALexandria and Cairo Egypt, Malta, and back to Barcelona (15 days). I should be here until about March, 2010, then home for good. Loving the world travel and good work and great pay. Feel free to contact me at Boydree74 at yahoo dot com. Steve April 2008: Greetings from AFGHANISTAN!!!! It's NOT NEARLY AS HOT as it was in IRAQ (119 degrees). and instead of being out in the desert, away from civilization, I'm right in the middle of Bagram Airbase, the largest Air Base in AFG, and we have 7 dining halls (I'm building the 8th and 9th) and 10,000 Army Navy, Air Force and Marine guys to keep us safe. (Oh, there are about 100 GIRLS here too, though few and far between. (but something we didn't have in IRAQ.) I'm Gettin' Old! Sure would like to chat with old Tennis, Choir(Pony Pipers- eh?), Band, and other geeks I used to hang out with in High School. Where's Paul Shore? I've seen Doug Vorwaller, Greg England, and Phil Schwartz, and of course, my brother-in-law Mark Beaudry, since graduation, but that's about it. In March,2007 I was working in L.A., In November, 2006 I was in the Ukraine!, but Marcia (Milwaukie Class of '77) and I live in Springfield, OR, now, when I'm not over here playing in the SANDBOX. Send me an e-mail at "boydree74" in my yahoo dot com mailbox. If you are an old (you could still be young?), Air Force buddy, or friend, or gal, or . . . acquaintance, especially if we played soccer together or travelled, or worked overseas. . . give me a buzz (but not through classmates, what an awful website!, but I re-met Marcia here, so I owe it some allegiance, but again use ya-hoo.
