Steve's Story

Life I left Huntington Park H.S. in the last part of my Senior year after I was informed by the school that I wouldn't graduate with my class because of lack of days in attendance (because of a broken ankle) even though I had a good G.P.A. I found out that bad news the day I got my Senior Annual and found that my picture wasn't in it... so I left school with only a month or so until graduation. A few months later I joined the Army and took the G.E.D. test. After I got out of the Army I lived in South Gate for a year or so, then moved to Long Beach and worked at the Pike (Machine Gun Kelly), got tired of that pretty quickly after I was robbed one night and moved to Orange County (Anaheim - 12 years)and lived in Orange County (Newport Beach,Fullerton)until 2000 when I moved to a beautiful house in Running Springs in San Bernadino, with a view of Downtown L.A. and the Ocean on a clear day. Over the years I grew tired of the overcrowding, crime & high prices in So. Cal. and that led to my decision to move when I got laid off in the "Telecom Crunch" of 2002. In May of 2003 I moved to North Central Idaho, where my Paternal Great-Great-Grandmother (A Union Civil War widow), Great-Grandparents and Grandfather lived since the early 1890's. I bought 5 acres of beautiful farmland in Kooskia Idaho inside the boundries of the Nez Perce Indian Reservation where I may live for the rest of my life, but then again there's always Florida! LOL. Sorry, but I wouldn't move back to So. Cal for anything... I have worked mostly in the electronics industry since High School as an electronic technician, except for about a year and a half that I drove cross-country delivering sailboats for MacGregor Yachts. I have also owned sev...Expand for more
eral 2-way radio/C.B. Shops from 1989 to 2001. I attended Computer Learning Center in Anaheim CA. and graduated as a "Network Engineer/Manager" in 1998. I am a webmaster, I have built quite a few websites and I currently (Oct 2008) own about 50, including a few of my own (StevenCanfield .com and a myspace page of course myspacedotcom/ steverock4ever. I had to do the web addresses like that because Classmates doesn't want web addresses here...... Oh Well... I paid for Premium membership... I am an avid photographer. I switched to using a digital camera about 4 years ago. I also make short videos, several of which are posted on the internet (youtube). I am a musician, I play guitar & bass. I enjoyed talking on the C.B when I was young and in 1988 I got my first Ham license (KC6EYM) while working at Yeasu USA, then upgraded shortly afterward to "Tech" (N6WIL), and passed my General and Advanced class tests the same day and became KK6OY, the call sign I still hold. I enjoy building 4x4 trucks, hot rods and choppers... Now that I live in a rural "Paradise" I like to fish/hunt/camp/explore... I am not married, but currently have 4 "children"... my 3 dogs and a horse! I currently work for a small Cellular Phone company in eastern Washington and I drive almost 100 miles each way to work each day... Yeah it's worth it! I would enjoy hearing from any of my old classmates/friends from H.P.H.S. There are a few friends that I have lost touch with over the years and I would like to hear from them (you know who you are!). O.K., in case you don't... Danny Melgarejo, Rocky Barber, Larry & Mike Watkins, Paul Clarke, Lance ? (sorry I forgot your last name!), Jeremiah Navarro... when I think of more I'll add them.
