Steve's Story
Life
After Maine East, I went to Kendall College. A year later my father died, the world crashed, and I grew up fast
no more fast cars and fast women for me. I sold my 427 Corvette convertible and pushed freight at O'Hare to support the family. Before long, I said enough of this s__t. As soon as my mom was ok, I went back to Kendall, graduated and then on to Loyola. I was married in '71 (still am). I went to school full-time and paid for it by working full-time at ABC-TV as a cameraman and audio engineer, a very cool job.
After graduating with honors and first in my major, I was hired by Procter and Gamble, and later moved to the Baltimore-Washington area. After three years I moved back Chicago. Over the next seven years, I worked for Uniroyal, Sara Lee and ultimately became General Manager for Ryobi America, a power tool company.
Then, I started a marketing consulting firm. I figured I made millions for others why not myself. That was easier said than done. Nonetheless, ...Expand for more
I have owned my own company since 1987. After becoming semi-rich once and broke twice (I am on the comeback now), there are no regrets. I made my own hours, and had time for the kids; it is the only way to live. By the way, I have a smart and gorgeous daughter at the U of I in Champaign and brilliant and adventurous teenage son.
I live in Arlington Heights today with a very beautiful and intelligent lifemate. She's the reason the kids turned out so great, not me, really. Her name is Joyce. What a woman! Why she puts up with all my crazy s__t for all these years, I'll never know. But, she still won't let me buy a Harley.
I'll hit the big 50 in September 2000, but still think and act like I did in my twenties. And, so far, every one of you from Maine East or South that I have met recently is the same way. Maybe it was something in the Park Ridge water that got into our genes. What do you think?
If you're still having fun, send me a line on the Internet. Adios muchachos.
