Steve's Story
The most important thing in my life is my family. I've been happily married since 1978, and have two children that I am so proud of I could burst.
My daughter, Sara, was married in May of 2009 to a wonderful guy, Humberto Hernandez. Her and her new hubby are current doing their internships for their Ph.D.s in Counseling Psychology.
My son is studying to become a pharmacy technician. He has been in the honors program for every module.
No grandkids (yet).
After high school, I went to school in Abilene, Texas for a while. Really, really not a good fit.
I quit school, and went to work, then finally when back to school at UCLA and got my degree in Anthropology.
Then I went back to work again. I worked in nurseries, garden shops, and lumber yards. I drove a lumber truck for a couple of years in the San Fernando Valley.
I finally went back to get my graduate degree in Library and Information Science at UCLA.
I've been a professional medical librarian since 1980.
Believe it or not, librarians are not stodgy, grey-haired spinsters; we don't spend our days "shushing" people and filing catalog cards. Librarians are professionals who organize and...Expand for more
locate information in any form, electronic, print or ???.
Imagine having a job where anyone could ask you any question on any topic and expect you to quickly come up with the answer.
Librarians must be detectives, alchemists, magicians, and above all, teachers. Most librarians are eclectics with a wide range of interests.
These days, I'm really into the new generation of indie musicians. There are some fantastically talented artists out there. While I still love some of the "big names," personally, I find it much more gratifying to go hear a singer at a local club.
I raise carnivorous plants & cacti.
I love apocalyptic movies, Family Guy, SciFi, peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, stale peeps, and buttermilk donuts.
I hate Krispy Creme donuts.
I like to read graphic novels.
I know a little American Sign Language (ASL) but I'm far from fluent.
I love the desert -- vast arid places.
I have an unnerving interest in penguins.
I can curl my tongue (upwards) and ride a unicycle (not at the same time).
I used to run a BBS (bulletin board system) called Wellspring.
I can't be tickled.
My favorite color is red.
My favorite number is 3.
