Steve's Story
Life
Mary Kay & I were married on May 17, 2003. I broke up with her just before the last reunion and--realizing the error of my ways--crawled back after coaching and counseling at the 20th Reunion.
Our honeymoon was the trip of a lifetime--Paris, Venice, Athens & Mykonos! We adventured to Paris where we saw the Musee du Louvre, Place Concorde, L'Arc de Triomphe, and went to the tippy-top of the Eiffel tower at dusk¡Xall on the first day! We adventured to the palace at Versailles one day and headed to Monet¡¦s gardens at Giverny another. After a steady diet of baguettes and crepes, we wrapped up with Notre Dame and Sacre-Coeur. We went on to Venice where we stayed in a 17th-century villa in Accademia just off the Grand Canal. After touring Piazza San Marco, the Doge¡¦s Palace and Murano¡Xhome of the famous glass works AND the breeding ground for used car salesmen¡Xwe enjoyed two leisurely days on the Lido Beach. We jetted to the Greek island Mykonos¡Xthe party capital of Europe¡Xstaying in a terrace bed and breakfast with a balcony overlooking the harbor. After losing ourselves in Mykonos Town with its art galleries, chic bars and discos, we rented a scooter and explored the island over a few days. We ate freshly-grilled octopus (YUM!) and found out¡Xfirsthand¡Xthat all Mykonos beaches are clothing optional. WOO HOO! º We toured the island of Delos¡Xthe sacred center of the Cyclades¡Xwith its Great Temple of Apollo and the beautiful Terrace of the Lions which date to about 7th century B.C. We ¡§relaxed¡¨ in Athens as we toured the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora and¡Xfueled by Gyros and fine Greek wine¡Xshopped-till-we-dropped in the Plaka. We were happy to return to the Wilmington after being gone for nearly three weeks and no less than ten pounds heavier! OY!
After an exciting first year, we add yet another milestone as we just found our dream house! It is a 4 bedroom/3 full bath Cape Cod on half an acre! The kitchen is about the size of our current apartm...Expand for more
ent and there is both an enclosed slate/stone patio off of the dining room¡Xwhich will house the outside bar and entertainment area¡Xand a house-width deck off the kitchen. The kitchen spills into the Library which overlooks the deck through huge beautiful windows!!! With hardwood floors throughout, the place has 3 working fireplaces including a gas fireplace in Master bedroom fulfilling Steve¡¦s (and MK¡¦s) dreams! The twice yearly bashes continue--past themes include Soiree, Toga Party, Beach Party, Mardi Gras, "High School" Party, Gilligan's Island, Cinqo de Maio, Juno de Eighto and the like. Next gig is the "Pirate Party". Arrggghhhh.
Committed to a life-long honeymoon, Mary Kay & I celebrated our first anniversary May 2004 in Cape May, New Jersey staying at the appropriately named Bacchus Inn. Our first year of wedded bliss includes all of the scraps and scrapes of a type-A couple, but wouldn¡¦t be traded for anything in the world. With MK¡¦s saving skills and Steve¡¦s ability to spreadsheet anything including house projects, the happy couple seems to be a perfect fit!
Our new tradition is February tropical vacations--we hit Jamaica last year with friends. Feb 2005, we just got back from the Mayan Riveria with two other couples. WAYYY too much fun! Next year, back to Jamaica, MON!
Mary Kay continues as General Manager of the Curtis Center in Philly where she also has a great staff working for her. While she discourages it because of the actor-egos and Hollywood hassles, the Curtis Center is much-sought after for filming and was used for the bar scene in ¡§Unbreakable¡¨ with Bruce Willis. An upcoming flick ¡§National Treasure¡¨ was also filmed with Nicholas Cage running through Washington Square¡Xjust outside the Curtis Center. Pretty cool!
Steve has excelled at Info Systems¡Xthe #1 Microsoft, Citrix and EMC partner in Delaware. He is now Managing Consultant of the LAN/WAN team and has the Information Security team reporting to him as well.
