Steve's Story

HI all... Seems like it was just yesterday it was 1980. I work as a Sr. Master Planner for the U.S. Dept. of Defense. Have worked there going on 26 years. Lived in Europe for 4 years until I moved back to Texas. While in Europe, I oversaw all the Air Force Bases in Europe. My area was from England to Italy to Turkey. Currently here in the US, I oversee all the bases in the Southwest U.S... . We have been working on Fort Bliss since 2005 and have 5 of the HBCT and 2 IBCT built. When we are finished, we will be moving 100,000 people there. It is an amazing program and I am blessed to have done it in my life time. Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio is the same way but I am putting in all medical facilities there. When the war broke out after 9/11, I was on the team that went in to Afghan. and setup a military base there. When the former USSR broke apart in 1991, I took a team in to the former USSR countries and helped setup Embassies there. I love my work.... it is different everyday but the most important part is the fact that I help make a difference in our young military members. To see families left behind while their love ones head down range. Changes your heart. II am a grad of OU... so BOOMER SOONER ALL THE WAY. lol That was a lifelong dream of mine. I have always wanted to be a sooner and this is a dream come true. The most important part of my life that changed me forever was when I lost my wife to cancer. Bryan was 3 and Natalie my oldest daughter had not even turned 1 yet. She was and will always be my hero in life. She showed me so much of how to live life to the fullest and to be above the little things. So when you get to know me again... you will see that I am a totally different guy from most. I love to live life to the fullest and to enjoy it. Why not be happy???? I feel like there are already enough sad and unhappy people in life. Would love to hear from everyone. Over the course of a week....I have go back over the years that I was at Charles Page and then went to those years that I would have known people. Brought back a lot of great memories. I took the time to use the words that they have here for "I Remember You." It was wonderful doing it and I hope all of you will do the same. O, please forgive me for the misspelled words that could be on here... YES AGE has gotten me and the tiny letters are hard to see as I type this. LMAO When someone special walks in your life and is able to change things for the better, don't ever let them walk away......... Years ago...After I had left the hospital from being by my special lady's bedside and her dieing in my arms. After I had gone to the hotel and set on the bed with my 3 year old son on my knee asking where she was. After seeing a lady so full of life go to the point of nothing and in pain that I could never fnd words to describe. I wanted to share it with you: People walk into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. As I continue with my Life goes on and so do people thoughts I always feel that whatever has happened is always for the good to come. For there is always a reason for everything…..The way I think might be odd but its true that we shouldn’t regret that a relationship or period got over in our life and we should always be happy that it at least happened. I had an old gentleman years ago tell me to always think of my life as a raw gem. Everything that happens is that sandpaper that is sanding down an area that is rough and needs it so that it is making wha...Expand for more
t was once raw a perfect gem. When someone walks into our life for a reason which may be of ours or theirs which wants some help to get completed. These people are those who come into our life when we are going through a rough patch and we need support and assistance. As soon as the reason gets over we tend to move away from these people. With or without a reason they or we walk away from that relationship. When someone walks into our life for a season it means these people are like our colleagues or neighbors. They are our support and help us to share lessons learned and understand life. They may teach us something we have never done. They usually give us an unbelievable amount of joy. As time goes on we move on. Those people will be there always but we get busy with our own commitments. Some people walk in to our life for lifetime. These are those to whom we are emotionally attached and find joy in every work of theirs. They make you laugh and cry but they never go out of our life. These people are the ones who hurt us the most but our relationship with them never gets weakened. These people and relationships are for lifetime. You know when they come into your life. It is like you can right away talk about anything and it always feels like you have known then all your life. It is like two puzzle pieces that have been apart finally comes together and you know that it is a perfect fit. Life must be understood backward. But it must be lived forward. Always live life to the fullest by living it one day at a time. The greatest joy a person will ever have here on tis earth is when it is lived seeing where desires, wants, and love is shared with another and together you are looking ahead to what the day holds for the two of you. Such a simple and true thought isn’t it?? Sometimes we all feel that we are alone in a crowd. Being surrounded by hundreds of friends and well wishers we still feel that no one is there for any. All are selfish and we should not expect anything from anyone as it hurts most. But do we stop expecting?? Have you ever thought over these questions below anytime in your life... Why it happens we cannot express ourselves at most decisive moments of Life?? Why is it we feel lonely even when surrounded by Crowd? Why it happens Best of Friends become Strangers in moments of despair? Why It Happen we lead ourselves into in Life situations for which we do not have any answer? Why we lead ourselves into sadness in search of Happiness?? Is silence the answer for the questions in our life? Silence usually defined as an absence of speech or noise. Does silence defines inaction? Silence necessarily doesn’t mean inaction not it’s a failure to communicate. . It can, in fact, be powerful form of communication. A proverb says Speak is silver and Silence is gold. The most powerful form of communication in a relation is silence. Don't you all feel?? Who doesn’t have problems in life?? Are we the only ones facing troubles and difficulties? The best way to tackle those is to smile over these. I have just learned an important thing in my life i.e. Learn to digest whatever comes your way and accept life and say to yourself that it’s the best thing which could have happened to me. Keep your smile in the difficult situations and then see how life will start smiling at you. If we smile then people around you will smile and they will be happy to see your smile. Life smiling at you and laughing at you are two different aspects of life. So let’s make life smile at you and not laugh at us. Take care, Steve
