Steve's Story
Life
During my U of A years I taught myself how to play guitar. As soon as I returned to Fort Smith I was fortunate enough to be asked to play with some of the best musicians in this area. Three of those musicians are playing professionally (or have played) for Christian groups/artists like Michael W. Smith, Whiteheart, Newsong, Phil Keaggy, Jonah 33 and more.
I have been married since 1990 and have two children, a girl born in 1992 and a boy born in 1994. We moved from Lavaca to Fort Smith in September 2004. My wife is attending school to get her Master's degree in Nursing.
Politically, I am 100% conservative. If you are a long-time Democrat (like I was), please take a look at how the party has changed over the last 50 years. It is controlled by people who wouldn't know truth or morality if it bit them in the butt. Not that the GOP is that much better but at least in that case we don't get taxed to death.
School
I attended Lavaca Public Schools from 1st grade all the way through 12th grade. I loved school and always made pretty good grades. The teachers who I learned the most from and owe the greatest debt of gratitude to are Jesse Harkreader (1st grade), Eula Keck (2nd grade), and Everett Neighbors, Agri/Shop/FFA. And I can't leave out my classmates from who I learned many things and had a great time with. I hate to start naming names for fear of leaving someone out but here goes...Jesse Fenwick, Doug Brittain, Bill Vowell, Eddie Bowen. Greatest achievem...Expand for more
ent in school...winning the Top Chemistry Student Award in a class that had Jesse Fenwick and Jonni Fate in it.
College
After graduation from high school I attended Westark Community College and majored in pre-pharmacy. After my second year I changed my major to business and went a third year to Westark. In the fall of 1983 I moved to Fayetteville and attended the U of A and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Marketing in 1985.
Workplace
In 1986, after working a few months as a salesperson for a local electric motor company, I went to work for Alfa Transformer, an electrical transformer sales and repair company. Within a few years I was promoted to Marketing Manager and then Manager in 2006.
In 1995, I began designing web sites for personal projects and then for other people. In 1997 I opened WebSite Warehouse, a web site design and hosting company in Fort Smith. I have about 90 clients in this part-time business. Some of my clients are Furniture Factory Outlet, Riley Farm, Spirit 106.3, Morgan Nick Foundation, City of Lavaca, and more.
In February 2009 some friends and I formed a new band called Bordertown. We started the band because we wanted to play songs we grew up with so you will know a lot of the songs. We are in the process of learning songs and plan to play some local places and maybe travel to regional cities on the weekends.
