Steve's Story
Life
Hey you guys! I decided to rewrite my bio. in order to update all that's happened in my life since the last bio. Not really. It's still the same old stuff. Work, sleep, work, sleep etc. Pushing for retirement now, not that I'm counting or anything like that but, I'm about 3 yrs and 9 mos from it. I've gotta admit I often miss those Sandia Daze, especially when run up from El Paso to see family in Abq. I'll drive by a N.E. park and remember those warm afternoons laying around smoking...what was I talking about? Or the cool summer nights cruising around on the scooters. Getting semi drunk but pretending to be really drunk up at the lower Rock House. Going 80 mph on Jaun Tabo before it was paved, "rollercoaster road" and getting off the ground at the tops of each rise...Yee Haw. Then we found acid, and getting off took on a whole new meaning. A&W was the place to be...or fight, if the Monzano idiots showed up . Frank's down on Lomas, Vips on Central...Cruisin'. $5.00 of gas at the Horn station would get you through the night. Sandia High...oh yes. 1971 the biggest graduating class in the history of N.M. But I was a drop out, I should have graduated in '70. I didn't like school very much. But I got it together later in life, stopped doing the drugs and the parties and the bar scene; got a degree and am now a RN. 20 yrs of nursing in ICU, Psychiatry, and the last 11yrs in the ER. I'd say I've seen just about everything as the facility I work at is a Level 1 Trauma Ctr.and it's a county hospital. Ingrown toenails to horrific crashes to gunshot and stab wounds and everything in between. Living in El Paso for the l...Expand for more
ast 24 yrs, own a home, on my 2nd marriage, a daughter(25) from the first and a son(17) from this marriage. I'm still into motorcycles and own about 30 of them, these are mostly old Japanese bikes awaiting my retirement to restore them and sell them off. My latest bike is a 2008 Concours 1400. I love to go fast. Einstien's space and time relativity theory put to the test; I think it's working because I'm still young at heart. Drop a line anyone. Give a call if you are ever in El Paso, I'm in the book. The pictures I've posted are very recent. Still need to scan and upload old pictures...if I ever find them. [ update 2/2025 ] Retired since 2019. 32 year nursing career done. Maria and I have had some wonderful travels together. Maria's been with me on numerous motorcycle trips, From El Paso to the southeast to visit family and friends. LA, MS, AL, FL, KS, TN, GA. Up the PCH to Seattle and across WA, OR,ID, UT, etc. Then there were our travels with a small camp trailer. Have spent retirement with chronic pain after neck and back surgeries. My motorcycle past catching up with me. What's the motorcycle life without a few crashes, right? So happily married, 2 awesome step daughters, 1 son, 1 daughter, 12 nieces and nephews. Living in El Paso for over 40 years. My main bike is a newer 2011 purchased new in 2013 a big ol' Kawasaki 1400 Concours with an ECU mod. for a little more speediness. I voted for Trump both times, so I'm a definite conservative.
