Steve's Story
Life
Not much to say here. I lived in the lower mainland (Port Moody) till I was 9 years old. Moved to the 100 Mile House (BC interior) area, where I went through the public school system and graduated in 1984. Spent a year in college in Williams Lake. Moved to Kamloops for a year to go to college, and took Communications Media. Couldn't find any radio work in BC, so I moved to Alberta for a year, but was unable to find work there either. I moved back to BC and eventually found myself back in college in Kamloops. This time taking a two year Electronics/Computer Maintenance Tech. program. I then took a job in 100 Mile House (who would have guessed) building and servicing computer systems. I did that for about 3 years, got married, and took another computer job in Williams Lake. I worked there for 6 years, in which time I also got divorced and got custody of the two cats (my kids). Since I no longer had any ties, other than my job, keeping me in Williams Lake, I decided to move closer to my family (who by now all lived in the Okanagan), and moved to Penticton. I now work for an office supply store and operate my own mobile computer servicing company. Oh... and restore and ride motorcycles as my main hobby.
That's about it... Ciao.

College
College was a lot of hard work (both in the classroom and working weekends to earn a little extra cash) and late nights studying, but was also a lot of fun. Especially the Communications Media program. It was a blast. Even though I wasn't very popular, I think I got along with everyone in the class and enjoyed working with them. Looking back... CMMD didn't seem that much like work. I later returned to Cariboo College (now named University College of the Cariboo) to study Electronics, and Computer Maintenace Tech. That program (CTEC) was a tough one for me. I pulled a lot of late nights studying (and a lot of groggy mornings :) But hard work payed off on that one as well, and I was able to land a job with a computer company immediately upon completion of the program, and have been working as a computer technician, or in a related field, ever since.
I have also earned certificates from numerous Computer and Printer manufacturers in that time, including Dell, Compaq, IBM, and Lexmark, and also received my A+ Certification. All of which was done on my own time outside of my regular work days.
Workplace
Lets just say I work too damn much. Presently I work about 10-12 hours per day, 5 days a week at my regular job, plus weekends and evenings, I run my own mobile computer repair service.
