Steve's Story
Life
Graduated from Wait-Hi in 1966. Attended WSU graduating in Spring semister of 1971. Entered Army Active Duty through WSU ROTC program in summer of 1971. Went through Signal Officer basic course in Ft. Gordon, GA then on to Jump School (Parachute) at Ft. Benning, GA followed by Special Forces Officer Course at Ft. Bragg, NC. Stationed for two years in Okinawa, then two years in Korea, then three years+ in Germany. Attended Foreign Area Officer School (Attache), followed by one year of Thai language training, then two years in Bangkok, Thailand. Spent 1982-1984 at NSA then five years at Special Operations Command Central, MacDill AFB, FL. The last two years of service was at Ft. Bragg, NC where most of the time was spent on the road in Panama or Saudi Arabia (Just Cause, Desert Storm). Retired from Active Duty in 1991 (20 years) and ran corporate offices for Booz Allen & Hamilton and SAIC (Defense Contractors). Started my own ...Expand for more
company in 1999 and currently reside in Alexandria, Virginia. Working Homeland Security projects with Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security. Married (first time) in 1980 - have two children by that marriage - Matthew 24 and Ashley 19. Divorced in 1992 and remarried in 1999 - gained two more children in that marriage - Joe and Joan, 23 (twins). Got seriously into mountain climbing while assigned to Germany. Traveled frequently to Swiss and French Alps - climber Eiger, Matterhorn and others. Traveled to Nepal while stationed in Bangkok and climbed in the Annapurna Sanctuary (26,000+ feet). Still get back to Washington State a couple of times a year to visit relatives (my mother still living in Walla Walla in her own home - age 91) - Brother Des manages ranch for Ed and Gloria Lawrence. Brother Kay retired in Alaska working with ATT. Attended the 20th reunion of class of 1966 and looking forward to the 40th in 2006!
