My son Kyle is a very amazing young man. He battled Eye cancer for 6 years finally losing his battle for sight but strengthening his will and determination to survive and live an exciting and full life. He has shown so many people that obstacles are only what you let them be. Through a very special friendship with Erik Weihenmeyer (The 1st Blind Climber to Climb Mt. Everest) he has been inspired to not let blindness get in his way or slow him down. He was given the honor of paying special tribute to his friend Erik on the Oprah show in Feb 2003. Ann Marie and I were both able to accompany him to the show. It really was a lifetime experience. Kyle & I now give speeches regarding our life and family experiences so that we might be able to help someone else like Erik helped us.
Back in High School we had no idea what our futures would hold and God knows I would never have imagined my to be as it has turned out. But, one thing is for sure I wouldn't change a thing. God really has blessed me and I am looking forward to making the 20th reunion if possible.
