Steve's Story
Life
I headed straight to Boise after
graduation to work for a horse trainer
until his stable went belly-up, ended
up working at the horse track for the
rest of the summer. I came home
after, working in Elkton for JC Ranch
until they sold later that fall. ..and
went into the military the next spring.
After San Antonio and Denver I was
three years in the Netherlands (met
my future ex-wife there), Korea,
Virginia, and nine months in Saudi. I
don't recommend a war and divorce
at the same time but it did work for
me.
I got out in '91 and ended up
teaching preschool for two years,
then studied music as a
performance major (string bass and
electric bass) for two more. I played
in small jazz combos on electric and
string bass, and chamber orchestra
on string bass. This education has
translated wonderfully into a job in the
local truckdriving market. I would like
to finish college yet. I'm looking more
towards counselling and psychology
now.
I did become Catholic a few years
ago and seriously considered
religious life and/or priesthood, but it

l stay out here! I have a
lady friend in Montreal I'm going to
meet in couple weeks (last weekend of
Mar. 2003). We'll see how that goes.
Every year I get older I like life gets that
much better--just thought I'd lay that
out. ;o)
Addendum--I guess that visit to
Montreal went pretty well, we're
engaged! We'll be married some time
in 2004 in Montreal after the visa gets
approved.
College
I studied music for two years as a
performance major in string bass. I
played in the chamber orchestra and
small jazz ensembles. I also took a full
year of Shakespeare for the sheer joy
of it (thanks, Emmy Dale an God bless
you where ever you are). I was a 4.0
student except for my math classes.
Oh, well!
Military
My military background sadly meant little to nothing to employers
when I got out in '91. That was a grave disappointment.
However, it was absolutely worth it for my life at the time. I would
never have gotten to so many places in the world or
have the guts to take some of the risks I since have. The military
taught me to be more confident in myself and to take risks.
