Steven Florence:  

I was born in San Gabriel, California Dec 19 1948 to Wayne and Twilla Florence of Montebello,California. lived in Montebello until about 5th grade then family moved to LaMirada, California. I went to various schools(scott ave and lindsey schools) there until about 1961 then had to go to schools in Santa Fe Springs (lake center jr high and santa fe high)for special classes as i was beginning to lose my hearing. also went to rio hondo jr collage for one year then to various trade schools lastly valley vocational school in la puente)Started a job working at silent industies in long beach around 1973 to 74 all deaf workers govermnet contract making bullets.Continued living in La Mirada until about 1974 when I got married to Kathleen Avera of Covina ,California.We moved to Fullerton California where we were active in the LDS Church(deaf branch). We had four children between us Matthew, Janet,Jacob and Stephen.at this time 1974 i started working in newport beach for ford areospace company (make missles ..sidewinders..for goverment)worked here up to 1988 was even a lead for a short ti,me ..deaf lead/hear workers."forced out in 1988 due discrimantion practices. We (my first family)continued living in Fullerton til about 1988 when we got divoiced.She moved out to Riverside area while I continued to live in Fullerton with all my children. I remarried in 1989 to Tracey Mast of Rowland Heights).We continued to live in Fullerton.
