Steven's Story
Like many of you, I have never left New Jersey. I have lived the past 31 years in Morganville (Marlboro) in Monmouth county. My wife, Carole (from Cranford), and I have been married for over 32 years and we have four children, all of whom still live in NJ. Melanie, our oldest, besides having taught French and Spanish in high school,is also a bilingual LDTC; Jaclyn, our second, is a lawyer with Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla, P.C.; Marley, our third child is earning her Ph.D in Behavioral Psychology at Rutgers University, and also teaches psychology at Kean University; and Elliot is finishing up his MBA. All three girls have lived and studied abroad. Melanie and her husband David have made us proud grandparents of two grandsons, Brandon and Ethan. Carole works as a Speech Pathologist for pre-school handicapped children in Lakewood, NJ. Another reason for staying in NJ is that Carole and I are both fortunate that three of our parents, aged 81-95 are still alive and well and living in NJ. As some of you have indicated from your postings, caring for aging parents can be challenging. For both business and pleasure, I travel extensively throughout the U.S and the rest of the world. I am a "road warrior" three-four months a year, but you can always get me anywhere via email or cell phone. Because my office is in Cranford I sometimes drive past the old neighborhood to check things out. Certain things have changed, certain things have not. While it seemed at times when we were at HHS our world was exploding, in the context of today's events and the world we live i...Expand for more
n I am sure most of us look back upon those halcyon days with both fond memories and some longing. I still keep up with some old friends, even though time and space have made it difficult. Due to business and family, I spend a lot of time in FL and have run into a number of you down there. I also spend a lot of time in Phoenix, Las Vegas, and southern CA. Some of our favorite vacation spots are Italy, England, Turkey, and Aruba, among other places. Lately, it seems we end up doing some type of cruise. Done big ships, done small sail yachts. I guess that is another sign of impending old age. For those of you still in Jersey, you can usually catch me any Friday night when I am not traveling, at one of the fine eateries on Route 18 in East Brunswick (Blue Water Seafood, Brothers Pizza, Sunny's Palace, Seville Diner) and then at Mega Movies at the Brunswick Square Mall. Congratulations to those of you who have either retired or are close to retiring. My "sentence" has about another 8-10 years to go, I think. If you like, you can contact me at skass10000 at aol.com. If you sign into my guestbook, I will email you all my contact info, if you like.
It was very exciting to see many of you at our 40th reunion this past June. With over 210 people, including over 160 from our our class, it was certainly a magical moment for most and a night to remember. It is good to hear than a number of us are still staying in touch and in some cases, groups of us have been having little mini-reunions. Not a bad idea to stay in shape for our next big one, the 45th in 2014
