Steven's Story
Workplace
Well thanks to the excellent care by military doctors I am no longer able to work. After being medically discharged from the military with a 10% disabilitary rating in '97 I tried going to work but I lost both jobs I had due to my disability.
Finally after a 4 year battle against Soc Sec I am on full disability. I was also able to get full benefits from the VA.
So now I am "retired" and spend most of the day in my recliner to keep the pain levels down to levels I can live with.
CAN YOU SAY "BORING!!!!!"
Military
I was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy in May of 87. I went on to flight school and eventually was trained to fly the E-2C Hawkeye.
As soon as I checked into my fleet squadron of VAW-126 we were sent off to war (Desert Shield and St...Expand for more
orm). On our next deployment cruise we were involved in the food drop missions over Bosnia.
After I left VAW-126 I transferred to NAS Whidbey Island north of Seattle and I intend to never move away from this area "PERIOD". God, I wish I had been born and raised up here. And yes if you are wondering, the winters can get crappy, but the rest of the time makes up for it. :))))
I was medically discharge in Dec of 97 after several years of severe back pain and two failed back surgeries. Unfortunately the doctor I got was so concerned about his reputation and success rate that he lied on my medical board and got away with it. The military gladly accepted his evaluation because they got way without providing me any benefits. The benefits I do receive come from the VA.
