Steven's Story
School
Well, from K-6 I attended Marie Sharpe Elementary School in Williams Lake, BC. During those years I hung out a lot with David Balfour, Lee Vincent (Vince) and Lee Campbell (Lee)... [REMEMBER THIS???: "It's Davey and Vince and Vince and Vince and Campbell Vince!" ;)... or something like that]. I remember a lot from those years, and wish I had appreciated it a bit more when I was a kid.
In 1989, my family and I moved down to White Rock, BC, where I gave a shot at Grade 7 at Sunnyside Elementary. That didn't go so well, and so I transferred to White Rock Christian Academy for the rest of Grade 7.
In Grade 8, it was back to public school where I attended high school at Semiahmoo Secondary. I became heavily involved in the arts at that time, and worked a lot in the library, and in the Multimedia-AV section of the fine arts department. Oh, and I helped organize a lot of awesome displays on various topics. I had some strange times in high school, but I did end up meeting a lot of people I'll never forget and I hope to hook up with them again, especially Sally Foreman, and Amanda Quinn (who I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with for but a brief time after finishing high school. If I could turn back time I'd have been there for ya).
Hope all is well,
- Steve =)
College
I'm currently attending Kwantlen University College, where I'm finishing an Associate of Arts Degree in English. I've already completed a Diploma in Marketing Management, and if I ever got my act together I could have a Dipl...Expand for more
oma in Fine Arts as well. I'm currently heavily involved in a staff position at Kwantlen, in the Student Association where I help market the KSA and organize events for students. I also sit as an elected student representative on Kwantlen's Education Council and Board of Governors!
I eventually want to get into filmmaking - writing, producing and directing. I've been taking courses at Capillano College that will help me jump into the industry over the next year or so, depending on whether or not I pursue a BA in English or Business, or even in film.
Workplace
In the 1990s, I also volunteered heavily with the South Surrey District 5 RCMP Community Police Station; and for a time in 1999 with the Vancouver Police Department's West End Community Policing Office. I really enjoyed the work I did while with Community Police, from organizing community events, to helping with an array of programs to just helping build a really strong image of the stations in their communities. I hope that once I'm entrenched in my career, I'll be able to give time again to Community Policing.
