Steven's Story
After spending 2 years in the Army (after being drafted out of Vanderbilt University Law School) I have been on the business side of newspaper and magazine publishing for more than 40 years (the Bagpipe will do that to you). I've worked at The Star-Ledger, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. I've also spent time working with several internet companies associated with the magazine and newspaper industries.
My father, Andre, who many of you had as a teacher at Clifford Scott...died in 1987. Mon pere would have been proud of the passable French that I picked up on frequent business and vacation trips to France.
Brother Keith lives in New Mexico. He retired as both a school teacher and a Naval Reserve officer. Another brother, Stuart (who was an infant during my Scottie days), is a trucking company Vice President and lives in Arkans...Expand for more
as.
My wife, Janice, is a graduate of West Orange High School/Montclair State. She is a retired graphic artist. We lived in Morristown for more than 30 years (in fact one of my neighbors was Jack Flaherty, Class of '66...also one of my neighbors growing up on Ely Place).
In January 2015 the New Jersey taxes and weather finally got to us. We relocated to Greenville, South Carolina, a beautiful small city nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I am now officially retired. Since relocating I have had the opportunity to teach a couple of history courses at nearby Furman University.
I remember very vividly and fondly my Scott days and always look forward to reunions with classmates and teammates. In November, 2014 I saw many fellow Scotties at the Fred "Moose" Hill Retirement Dinner. Nothing had changed and we all were 18 again!
