Stuart's Story

Life Although my name appears in the Stadium year book as James (my first name) I went by Stuart or Stu. I have been married 32 years to Jan and we have 3 daughters, one son and 4 grandchildren. I currently work for the US Postal Service in Portland, OR. I retired from the Oregon Air National Guard in January 2007. I was a Security Specialist with the 142nd Security Forces and then the Safety NCOIC for the 272nd Combat Communication Unit.I served four years in the US Navy with a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1968 with the US Navy's Task Force 115. I currently live outside Portland, OR in the city of Aloha,OR. I have been living here since 1975. I enjoy my trips up to Tacoma when I visit old friends from school and friends made after school... on delay entry in April 1966. First duty was Barbers Point Hawaii, then onto the USS Loyalty MSO 457 in Long Beach California. I then went to Qui Nhon Vietnam NSD. I came back to the USS Bridget DE 1023 in Seattle Washington. I went back into the service 1989 by joining the Oregon Air National Guard as a Security Specialist. I have since changed to Safety Manager for the 272nd Combat Communication Squadron. I retired an E-6 with 23 years. The retirement pay which starts at age 60 has been very helpful. I went to Sherman Grade School. On to Mason Jr. High for 7th grade. On to Meeker Jr. High for 8 and 9th grade. Then attended Stadium High graduated in 1965. Attended Green River Community College, Ft. Steilacom Community College. Attended Portland Community College and Portland State University.
