Sue's Story
Memories of CD, the serenity of the grounds, the encouragement of the teaching staff, so comforts me while I reconstruct my Katrina-flooded home Lake Vista. After CD, I went to California where I got an art degree from UCLA, then worked as an artist for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica for a few years. Eventually, longing for family, I returned to New Orleans and attended Loyola Law School at night after working days at (the then) Milling, Saul, Saunders, Benson & Woodward, a defense firm in the Whitney building downtown. Married in law school, had one son, served as a Trustee in Bankruptcy on Judge Tom Brahney, III's staff for 5 years, then turned to general private practice for the next 25 years. I divorced in 1987. My son is a lawyer, too, living in Ohio with his family.

cuation to Ohio, I began the process of peeling apart all my cases and returning what documents I could, and essentially abandoned the practice of law in favor of repairing my home. This, nearly four years later, is ongoing, but close to finish.
I have become very competent at designing each project, getting the best materials and labor, and finishing in a way that will be FINAL and under budget. The cost is time.
To you who are still involved in putting your house back together, I'd like to share stories and information with you.
So, plodding rather slowly, I remember my friends at CD, and have dreams of visiting Cottonwood Gulch, Doc Olmstead's summer travel and teaching southwest project. I am ready for a place with no water! I miss it all so.
Someday I will be finished and able to share perspective on this whole thing, and contribute to the arts and environmental effort. Meanwhile, I know you're all out there, and miss you so much. Look me up. Come see me.
