Susan's Story

Boy, trying to think back on school seems so far away, and so long ago. So much has happened in my life since high school. I moved to L.A. for four years in 1986. Then I moved back to Modesto in 1990 where I met and married my husband, working for American Savings Bank as a Sr. Loan Underwriter. Four years later we had our first child, my son, Ben. A year and a half later we had our second child, my son Will. Then a little over two years went by before we had my third child, another son, named John. We decided not to take a chance with four boys, so we stopped there. As for career aspirations, I was in real estate until I was married, then I was fortunate enough not to have to work, and I was burned out on real estate. So i gave up the career goal, and settled into being a wife, and then a mother. But now that my youngest son is 8 years old, I find myself needing an outlet. So I started riding horses, and finally bought my own in March of '08. He's a reining horse, and I am hoping to start competing this spring. My other "thing to do" is being a notary signing agent. I sign loan borrowers up with their loan docs, and notarize everything. A bit boring, but it helps with the cash flow. Owning a horse is Expensive! Other than that, I'm a conservative, born again Christian, and totally into country music. We live here in Oakdale, CA in a house on the edge of town. My sons each have a pet, our cat, K.C., our puppy...Expand for more
Isabelle, our bearded dragon, Zeus, and our guinea pig, Victoria, as well as my horse, Slider-Up Buck. That's the facts for now. Just living a nice, quiet, country life, here in the middle of cowboy town, USA. In 2005 my mom got sick with Shingles and came to live with us while she recovered. But unbelievably, just a couple of months with us, her house, and my childhood home in Morada burned to the ground. It was Sept. 25, 2005. So we began the search to find a home that would fit all of us, since we knew mom couldn't make it on her own, health wise. We finally settled on building a home in Oakdale, CA, just east of Modesto. I've posted pix of our burned house along with a picture of our new home. It's hard to believe I'll never be able to go back to the old neighborhood to see where I grew up. A new home sits there today, and even the whole of Morada isn't the way it used to be. Sadly my mom only lived in the new home for 9 months before succumbing to kidney failure. She died on May 11, 2007. I miss her dearly. As for how I hope old friends will remember me; well, I just hope they WILL remember. 26 years is a long time, and reunions don't count, cause you're on your best behavior and dressed to impress. People will probably remember me as being a band-jock, and a stoner. Although I do still write music, I no longer get stoned. So feel free to drop in and drop a note. It would be good to hear from you all.
