Susan's Story
Well, I've done and been a lot of things so far in my life; not proud of all of them, but had each not happened exactly like they did, I wouldn't be where I am now, so I have to give thanks for each, good AND bad!
I went into the Air Force after graduation, and was an aircraft mechanic - I inspected jet engines and loved it, but was overweight :( After I got out, I did the college thing for quite a while - ended up with 99 credits, but no degree, cuz I didn't take any science classes... Lots of other good stuff though, and I think I've used all of it somewhere in my life except for the bowling class I took one semester...
I haven't had much luck with relationships until this last one; there were 3 failed marriages and 3 failed relationships prior to this, but I do believe I've finally found my mate! We're both a bit wacky, like 2 peas in a pod, and it works well!
I have 3 kids: Kelli, 23, currently living and working near Dayton, Ohio; Geoffrey, 21, home for a few weeks from a 'Missions' trip to S Korea to teach English to students there bound for US Christian colleges while he waits for his visa so he can go back and be a Student Pastor at the church he was attending there; and Dustin, 19, just graduated from Ellicottville BOCES Auto Body and Salamanca Alternative Education for his GED. Paul and I also have a people-puppy Beagle/Lab mix, about 1-1/2 years old, Indiana, who, at 62 lbs still thinks he's just a 6 lb lap puppy. Who are WE to tell him differently? :)
I'm into computers, gardening, reading, sewing, hunting, fishing, motorcycles, car repairs (preferably not fuel injected), home remodeling, you na...Expand for more
me it, I've probably tried it!
I've worked, over the years (for pay) as: a cashier for a month each at Tops and Arby's during high school, Aircraft engine inspector in the Air Force, counter person at a dry cleaners, waitress and chip girl at a local card room, secretary to the County Administrator's secretary and his 3 Administrative Analysts for the County of Merced, Sheriff's department typist for Warrants and Patrol Divisions (and sometimes dispatcher's assistant), auction day calf handler, 'Equine Sanitation Engineer' (yeah, I mucked horse stalls), data base entry clerk, Carnie (yes, at the carnival - water shoot game) (was at Long Beach where 'Hands Across America' ended, when Kelli was 5 mos!), all out in California; and: relief typist and receptionist for Cattaraugus County DSS, night auditor at a local hotel, laborer at Highland Injection molding, junkyard clean-up person and parts stripper, and stay-at-home mom, all back home in WNY.
I've also learned how to set up and run my own demolition derby car & work on my own vehicles, right down to changing motors and transmissions and bending and forming brake lines on my own, with a little arc and mig welding thrown in for good measure. I learned the hard way that some things are just better off done yourself.
I also work on/with computers (build, repair, troubleshoot - we've got between 6 and 8 of 'em in the house, depending on who's here at any given time!) when I have to and spend too much time online. Also spend time taking commercials out of TV movies and putting them on DVD, and transferring my cassette collection to CD. Time consuming but satisfying.
