Susan's Story
Life
My Spouse
John, my wonderful husband, is a respiratory therapist. We were married on December 15, 2000. Greg claims we did it on purpose, easier to count how many years we've been married. Honestly, it wasn't on purpose, but he is kinda right! John works at the VA medical hospital in Fayetteville, AR.
My Kids
Rebecca is a wife and mother now. She was married on October 19, 2007. Her son was born on July 25, 2008. He has wonderful red hair and a most beautiful smile. That makes him grandchild #7. Becky and her husband Matt bought themselves a new home, and it's just right. A little country, a little city. We have seen longhorn cattle, eagles, turtles, geese, and ducks by the pond behind her house. The front is a regular neighborhood street. NICE!
Greg is about to go into the Air Force.
He leaves for basic on my 49th birthday. You know I'm going to miss him very, very much. Afterall, he is his mother's son. (Not a momma's boy, but his mom's boy.) He definately has his mother's sense of humor, some
people just don't get it. Go figure.
YES, I'm one of those mothers that talk
all the time about my kids.
I also have 2 stepchildren: Jacylyn &
Jourdon. Jacylyn has a daughter and a son. Jourdon...Expand for more
has 2 sons of his "own" and a stepson and stepdaughter. My mom's mom always said to take the children into your heart no matter how they arrived to be placed there. (20/20 hind sight she also said.)
Jacylyn is a respiratory therapist just like her dad.
Jourdon is now studying to be an electrician.
My Job
I am a registered nurse and sometimes it's the best job anyone could
ever have, sometimes it's the worst.
Being a nurse isn't easy, especially
when someone is non-compliant, or dies
so young/before it's expected. But a
lot of the time an appreciative word
comes your way, and you remember why
you do the job you do.
School
Ms. Melee-Martin inspired me the most. She kept me grounded and sane. Gail was my protector. I loved drill team, pep club, and FBLA.
College
I miss the interaction of school; going to club meetings, dances, home coming, etc.
Workplace
Didn't want to be a nurse, I didn't want to take care of sick people. Well, God had something else planned for me. Here I am almost 23 years later a registered nurse working on a step-down unit taking care of open heart patients. Eventually I'll teach, after I travel for a while. Did a travel job once to Bristol, CT (home of ESPN). Loved it.
