Susan's Story

Most of my adult life since age 27: professional mom Have been geology and chemistry lab tech and non- credentialed substitute teacher. Totaled my minivan in 2006 on the back of a slow-moving dump truck. Now I am looking for retraining as a medical records computer 'expert', because I've sure had a lot of medical experience now. I am lucky to even have my left leg, never mind walk with it, with all the arthritis and neuropathy it has. One son, three daughters. Since none of them are married, I'm still waiting to become a grandma. But my youngest sister already is one! If you still live in Muskegon County, look for Randy at the senior center or Montague City Council. He's my cousin. If you live near Ludington, look for Brandy or Deb (WHS '77) at the McDonald's. Mom hasn't lived in Whitehall since Dad died. My sister Grace (WHS '73) has lived in Oklahoma since her husband finished his tou...Expand for more
r in Germany 29 years ago. And me? After a broken engagement and 31 years in California, I now live 'between cheesesteak and shoofly pie', if you can guess where that is. Hints: near the Liberty Bell, and the closest baseball team won the World Series. Thomas, my oldest, has worked freelance programming, repairing, and setting up computers, and is still working on a degree. He's still in California, and I miss him anytime things need fixing here. Daughter Anne got a vocational certificate in fashion design; unemployed, unfortunately. She and her sisters are here with me. Maria would be rich if computer/video games paid. She's still trying to find direction. Rachel, the most level-headed one of the bunch, got her HS diploma by being homeschooled after we moved here. She likes animals and takes her sisters with her to work at a local breeder and trainer of show horses. Dang, do I need a job!

ON a site for over-the-air capable DVRs there was this ad. IS THIS FOR REAL?? Anne works for CTDI, which processes cable box and smartphone shipping and returns. If they weren't so anal-rententive about their rejects, Anne
Something like this was on Stephen Colbert last night. Bob even laughed at it! Then I found it's a takeoff on a George Takei meme.
Anyone see the picture like this in last week's Parade Magazine? The real Mary Jackson of the NASA 'computers' is dressed kinda like Miss Moorhouse [my HS math teacher]. It made me think of how women who would not be deterr
Funny how something you've just discovered pops up seemingly everywhere? One of the 'Hidden Figures' helps the time travel team debug NASA computers. Yeah, it's fiction, but you'd like to think...
