Su's Story
Life
I'm still living in Northern California (since 1983) with my husband and 2 of my 3 kids. My older son,age 24, moved out a couple of years ago and has his own apartment, job and is enrolled in art school. We just have our 9 and 7 year olds home with us now. Since my younger kids were born, I've worked either part time in the office (for a Restaurant Design Company) or at my home or not at all. I'm currently on the "work part time in the office and too much out of my home" plan! I can't complain though cuz it's exactly what I wanted. I can drop the kids off at school and pick them up which makes them happy too.
We spent the summer traveling to Rhode Island and Vermont for a reunion with my husband's family and of course to San Diego to spend time with my family. We hosted our annual Huntington Beach Family Reunion Party in August which we always enjoy. This was our 5th year and my kids just love it. This year my daughter was involved in swim team and my son played baseball and soccer. They keep me running around town. They are both excellent students.
We just spent the Christmas holidays staying close to home. We went to lots of parties, did lots of shopping, didn'...Expand for more
t exercise enough, and threw an open house of our own for 77 of our closest friends! It's been a fun month. Now it's time to make a plan for 2005. It's ganna be a great year!
Workplace
I've worked in the Restaurant Design industry for the past 25 years, starting at a company in Newport Beach in 1977 and continuing with the same line of work here in Northern California since 1983. I worked full time while raising my first son, who's now 24, after getting divorced from his father when he was 3. I remarried at age 39 and had 2 more kids late in life and cut back on my work schedule so that for the past 9 years I have worked either part time at home or in the office or worked not at all. I quit working last summer to again stay home with my younger kids who are 9 and 7 years old. I enjoyed my work in purchasing and project management for new restaurants, but also enjoy just being at home. I keep really busy helping at their elementary school and running a Parent/Child book club for their grade levels. My day is always busy. I do regret not furthering my education and figuring out that what I'd really like to be is a designer. Oh well, you never know what tomorrow will bring!
