Susan's Story
Hi all MHS friends...
Married Lt. Col. Paul Raetz in 1995 (first marriage to Bruce Fleming, class of 1970, father of my 3 children), and moved to Rustenburg, South Africa to run a Bed & Breakfast. We took youngest child "Libby" with us. The birth of our first grand-child caused us to return to Florida in 2001, right after 9/11. We have as our memories many photo's, movies, stories, and treasures. Paul says we did not leave S. Africa...we brought it back with us!!
I am the proud mother of 3 children...Becky (married and living in Wimama), David (married and living in Asheville), and Libby (married and also living in Wimama a block from her sister).
Am also proud grandmother of 12, ages 1 to 20.
I like to stay busy. I love to garden, cook, camp, fish, knit, create, ...Expand for more
work on ancestry.com (our Miller family dates back to early settlers that helped settle Springfield, Mass), swim, walk, hike in Asheville, NC, area mountains, beaching, traveling, cruising, and sitting doing nothing.
My husband Paul died in 2015 from lung problems.
August 2016 brought our classmate Lloyd Chapman back into my life, unfortunately with cancer. I helped him through a bone marrow transplant at Moffitt and we married in summer 2017 in a private Christian ceremony with family and friends. We bought an RV and did some traveling. In 2019, cancer returned and Lloyd passed away in April that year on Easter morning.
I sold my home in Parrish in April 2021 and bought a home in North Palmetto.
Looking forward to our 50th Reunion and seeing everyone again!!!
