Susan Halterman:

CLASS OF 1982
Morgantown, WV

Susan's Story

I was a Agriculture major at Potomac State college from 1978 to 1980. Went to WVU in the fall of 1980. Majored in Agriculture with emphasis in animal science. Graduated in 1982 with a BS degree. Received my Masters in Agricuture from WVU in 1984. I was a reserved type person, sometimes witty, could be a smart ass, and very out spoken on somethings. I always wanted to be a county agent when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were probably right. But, I never took the chance because I came back to my home town and worked at Southern States for two years and got married in 1985 and started a family. I ride my horse "Strider" which is a 5-year old gelding which I raised from a foal. I also listen to country music and workout. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have 8 hrs. sleep, caffine, and breakfast to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My dad is my hero. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is old friends, because I like to catch up to see what they have been doing with their live...Expand for more
s.. Horses, cattle, and watching my kids play sports. My biggest surprise -- divorce. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel all of it and add on a porch on front of the house. My dream home would be a barn-style home. Heartache; just alot of heartache. Not only heartache; they taught me how to enjoy life. They make you realize what your own parents went through. Professor Malone because he believed in his students and did any and everything he could to help his students. He passed away in 1991. Yes I lived in the dorm and met some of my closest friends there. I had a very memorable experience. My current age is 49. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old. I was so completely wrong. I am currently working on getting my teaching certification in science. My best friend would tell you I'm friendly, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as hard to get to know. I share my home with my kids, which I find challenging. In 10 years, I hope to be a teacher. I'm going to get there by finishing my graduate program. That I still pretty much look the same as I did when in school and that I am divorced. My first job was at Southern States, where I got paid min. wage to clerk. What I remember most about it is I got to meet lots of people..
