Sue's Story
Life
Have lived in Tucson for the past 11 years...after 14 years in Vegas we decided to trade in one desert for another. I have 2 kids - Heather (25 and Matt (23).
Heather is working on her bachelors degree in geology and Matt is a combat medic in the Army.
I work as a high school career/post-secondary counselor in Tucson.
Dec. 2008 update: Wow, it's hard to believe I've been in my house for a year! It's an older house close to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, so I can hear the National Anthem at 5 every evening and I get to hear jets taking off at times. It's an older neighborhood, and I am really enjoying it here.
I just saw my kids at Thanksgiving and also get to see them both for Christmas. I know this is very unusual, since Matt is in the Army. However, he is stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, and since his unit is still in the process of being formed (they are moving it over from Germany) there is not as much to do as there normally would be. This also means it will probably be another year before he is deployed...and that is just fine with me!
Heather had a summer job at Capulin National Monument in northeastern New Mexico and is ...Expand for more
now back in Tucson trying to find a job and preparing to go back to school in January. She lives on the other side of town, but I get to see her every couple of weeks or so.
No pets...other than the occasional wolf spider that decides to take up residence in my living room. I don't mind so much as they keep the rest of the insect population down. But when they get much bigger than a 50-cent piece or migrate towards my bedroom, they are ousted into the yard.

Workplace
After 20 years as a full-time mom, I am now working for pay :) I am working as a high school career counselor. This is a new position in the district, so we get to make it up as we go along. It's a lot of work and very challenging, but that's so much better than being bored.
I am hoping to start tutoring for middle school students in January, and by the end of 2009 I plan to start up a business as an independent college counselor working with homeschooling families.
