Susan's Story
Well, you know it seems like yesterday...sorta. I have a wonderful life. I moved to Tucson Arizona in the spring of 1979. I landed a job wrapping meat at the local grocery store (based on all my experience at Mitchell's Supermarket). I started going to community college for a business degree. Somewhere in here I became a Beauty School drop-out. Finally, after 10 years I earned a B.A. in Management while working full time and raising a child. I joined the Tucson Air National Guard in 1982 and worked full time there until 2002, I went back to the University for an MBA prior to retiring. Then, I moved to Kentucky where I became a manager for a plasma collection center for 18 months. It was during that time, I decided that I became more of a southwest girl. I love the sunshine and mountains. I was back in Tucson by Feb 2004 and began working as a regional training manager for another pharmaceutical company. I travelled alot. nd it was hard for me to be on the road all the time. I was happy to accept a job with Raytheon in Jan 2007 as a business analyst. My Dad died on Apr 17, 2008. He battled bone cancer. What a wonderful man, I am glad to have been close to him all my life. I look after my Mom for him now.
I have a pretty good kid. Nicholas is 21 years old. He lives in Hawaii. I did not marry his father. Nick joined the Coast Guard out of high school and that is how he ended up in Hawaii. He loves it there. I think it's a nice place to visit, but get rock fever after about 10 days.
My travels have taken me all over Europe, Mexico (of course) and a vacation to New Zealand is on my "to do" list.
I volunteer at the Saguaro National Park West 4 hours a week. I hike all the time. My hobby is creating stained glass. I have a little studio in my home. I just planted a garden and started a compost. I'm free to do whatever I want, whenever I want. I like that.
