Susan's Story
LIFE-- UPDATED 5/27/13
I've been really lucky to have had such an interesting & full life. I waited to marry(31); until after I finished grad school & traveled. I worked at a Socialization Center in El Cajon, Calif., as a therapist with mentally ill adults. In 1988, I was offered a position at The San Diego Regional Center as a Supervising Therapist. I was in charge of overseeing group homes and hospitalized Dual Diagnosed clients (adults & children). This was a great position and I loved the staff I worked with!
Yet, when I was 36, my husband & I moved to his home state, Ohio. I continued working with the Mentally Ill; as a supervisor of case managers. I missed working "directly" with the clients, so I transferred to a position as a therapist, for the homeless. Soon after, I started my family. I have 3 beautiful girls: ages 19, 18, & 16. I continued to work full time until 2002, when I decided to retire. Within a few months, my 2...Expand for more
nd husband obtained an engineering job in Michigan, so in 2003, we picked up and moved.
I still currently live in Michigan, although I have always wanted to move back to California... I'm a huge dog lover, and currently have 2 small Yorkie/Poodle mixes & a tiny Yorkie, who I am able to take with me (as my "companion" dog).
My Dad, older brother, Jim, & younger sister, Holly, still reside in So. California. My younger brother, Bill, passed away in 2006 - his health had been steadily deteriorating, ever since having kidney disease.
Currently, I'm doing well and finding out what being single (again), feels like. I've enjoyed traveling with my girls.
I have been doing research on HOW I can afford to move (w/my 16 yr. old) back to California. I need the year-round mild weather to be more active. I hope to find a small cottage or mobile home; near the So. California beach areas.
* It would be fun to hear from some old friends :)
