Suzanne (Suzie)'s Story

LIFE BIO: Hi there to anyone who thought it might me interesting to read about me~ H.S was a blast!! ~ Thank you tons for ALL the awesome memories!!My life is very rewarding now~ We have 4 great kids, 3 boys Dakota 14y, Colton 11y & Canyon 3 1/2y and a daughter, Cassidy 9y . My husband, Darren, is great! He's an awesome friend & father. He is a PGA golf pro. I am a REALTOR in the Indy area. I also most recently, started my own travel business. It is really exciting being a travel professional! If I back up a little in history, life wasn't always great, Reality hit in the fall of 1988, I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BRAIN TUMOR. I was in the hospital for 5 months!!I had 3 surgeries, was blind, deaf, & paralyzed on the left side of my body for about 8 wks-it was temporary, & the feeling returned. All which took about 1yr. to get back to normal. Returning to college in the fall '89, I used a cane. By Xmas '89 I had regained full mobility. Needless to say, I wasn't competing anymore for the BSU track team (which I did fresh.& soph. year) but, because I helped out with the team, I was able to keep my scholarship- yippee! I was devastated for a long time, but got through it with support of family & friends. Even though my modeling (I did some from '86-'88) & track careers ended from that hardship, I guess I can say, many good things came after. Making up for the lost year, allowed me to meet my husband, Darren. We were married in '92. My health improved over the years. However, in '99, while pregnant with our our daughter, in my 5 month I was diagnosed with another brain tumor. It was totally unrelated to the first one, but, nonetheless, still a problem. The first tumor is gone & I have had no problems since the 3 surgeries removed the tumor years ago in 1988 and 1989. The 2nd tumor, however, I still have. I go for treatments as needed & take meds daily. The GOOD news is neither are cancerous or maligant, however, the 2nd tumor is located on my pituatary and "optic nerve" region & if it swells, I lose vision. So I have to take meds regularly to keep it small. The risks for surgery are, blindness, death or I'll be fine. I don't like the first two options, so I plan to stick it out through the headaches & nausea & go on with life. It is now 2009, WOW! I appreciate how good I really have it. Last year I celebrated my 40 in Clearwater Beach and man, How time flies!! It was a great vacation away with just my husband. Those of you with kids can relate to the treat of some "alone time" . It was fantastic to come home to big smiles and tight hugs!! :-) I am very grateful for my blessings and thank God daily for my 4 miracles! There are days I get down, when things seem tough or I feel sick ... but, I keep telling myself ... I have it a lot better than many other people, Especially, with the war & sadness in the world! I am truly very blessed! I have a healthy family, a husband that loves me & that I adore & a career I really love doing. So, Life is truly great! I try to think of the hardships I went through as learning times and now know what is truly important. There was a time that I was very vain, & cared way to much about outside appearances, if I was or wasn't popular & if others liked me. At that time, "that" was what was important, now I obviously know better. From the inside is where your beauty comes from & it isn't what you "have" that makes you a good person, but, what you "give and "teach" others. That's what's rewarding. Letting go of hatered & forgiving others is important. Learning from your mistakes, is key! Wow, what growing up teaches you- Well, that is about it- So much for the short story. Probably more information then any of you asked for. You just got the life story of Suzanne Thomas A.K.A. Suzie Casas, pretty boring huh??? Are you still wondering "Why am I still reading this?" I'd have to say, I wish I talked to many people from my past alittle more. Past relationships male and female, I think about every once in awhile. I miss that I can't just say hello and see how "you " are. I had some pretty remarkable memories in HS at GBN and cherish them all!! College was great ... I am so ...Expand for more
happy to have my sorority sisters right here in Fishers. College had its up and downs, but there too were some good memories. But good ole GBN was my favorite time! (Of course being a married mother of four takes the cake of ulitmate rewards) If you come across this bio and think "what the heck maybe I'll say HI," ... please DO. I invite you to contact me anytime. God Bless all of you!! Thank you for reading! (please excuse any typing errors- that was a class I skipped often HA! HA!) SCHOOL BIO: Hello again to any who would read this ... hahahaha! I am a graduate of Glenbrook North H.S.- I went to Ball State Universtiy in Muncie, Indiana. I ran track and field in college for two years, and due to medical reasons was not able to continue last 2 years of school. I graduated from Ball State in Dec. 1991 and moved to Clearwater Fl.. I had a great job as fitness instructor ... (BS Major in Wellness and Fitness, Minor in Cardiac Rehab and Nutrition)Then got married in Nov. 1992 and moved to Ft. Myers, Fl. Had 4 kids ... 7/1994,8/1997, 11/1999 and 11/2005 ... I got my Real Estate license in 1997 ... I practiced both professions for 8 mos and gave up the wellness job. Although I still like to walk, running is out, I had knee surgery on both knees over the past 3 years. Real Estate allows me more flexiblity with my schedule, which in turn gives me more time with my family. Plus, the income is pretty good, too! In 2009 I started my own travel business ... The Thomas TEAM Travel Group of Global Travel International, being a travel professional has really been fun and rewarding. That pretty much wraps it up ... Take Care and God Bless! Thanx for reading! :-) COLLEGE BIO: Hello once again ~ Ball State University for 4 1/2 years. Graduated with a BS Wellness and Fitness degree. Real Estate License in 1997 REALTOR 1997-present WORKPLACE BIO: Hello once again ... Having fun yet reading about Suzie ... *SMILE* Let's see ... After college I moved to Clearwater, Florida and worked as a fitness instructer for the Safety Harbor Spa and Fitness Center about 18 mos ... then moved to Ft. Myers, FL. and worked at the Cape Coral Hospital Health and Fitness Center. It was a great job and I have many good memeories there. I also was married at that time in 1992 ... lived and worked in Florida for about 3 yrs. ... our first son was born in 1994 and about a year later, we decided to move back to the midwest ... my hubby's family is from Indianapolis so this is where we came. He happened to have better work leads here. I always thought I'd move back to a suburb of Chicago ... but, that doesn't look like that will happen any time soon... :-( When we first moved to a suburb of Indy in 1995, I worked as a wellness coordinator of a YMCA ... in 1997, I received my Real Estate license and our second son was born. I did both professions for about 8 mos. and then we decided the flexibility and financial benefits would be more rewarding in the real estate field, so I gave up working at the YMCA. Our daughter was born in Nov 99 and our newest joy, a son was born Nov. 2005. My profession is truly rewarding with a family. I do miss the fitness world profession at times, but, I love being free to spend time with my family. I am currently a REALTOR. I have my own team, the Thomas TEAM of Carpenter Realtors. I cover ALL of the Indianapolis area and do MANY referrals for friends and family out of state. IF YOU EVER NEED REAL ESTATE ADVICE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME ANY TIME. In 2009 I started my own travel business ... The Thomas TEAM Travel Group of Global Travel International, being a travel professional has really been fun and rewarding. If you ever want to take a getaway, romantic trip, family vacation, visit a friend a cruise ... anything ... call or email me and I will be more than happy to put a fantastic trip together at a price you can afford! Visit my website anytime ... Well, I guess that is about it ... Life is good! I enjoy my job ... handing keys to a family for their new home is so rewarding!! My kids are great and I have a husband that I adore ... We are always dreaming, but, for now I am truly blessed!
