Suzanne's Story
Life
Here I sit on a Friday night filling in the blanks on Classmates.com. What does that say about my life?
The business is going great - the life needs a little work. Whose doesn't?
Nope. No husband. No kids. My brother has 6 kids. We share. I spoil them rotten and give them back. It works for me. He's not as agreeable, though. That's why they like me better than they like him.
I do have a dog - Shadow. Funny, dogs never need to know where you've been or where you're going or who you're with. They're just glad you come home. And more glad when you give them a bone.
Dogs are so much less complicated and so much more honest than people. That's one reason I love them so much. Dog doesn't like you - you get bitten. If the dog does like you, you get licked. None of this "I think we just need to sniff other people's butts" stuff.
Other than that, the books are being written. I think it's mandatory now; almost like it's an unwritten law. Everyone has to write a book.
Not one to be outdone, I have 3 started and the ideas for half a dozen others in the wings.
I have decided to teach myself how to design webpages. Hopefully, my handiwork will be up by January.
There are 2 CD's in progress - one of mine and one with a friend. Home recording studios are really getting cheap these days. I think everyone should have one. Even if you have nothing to record. It's fun just to have the stuff to do a CD if you wanted to do a CD.
My guitar collection has grown and shrunk over the years, and right now it's hovering at 6. I have the hankering for a new one, but haven't decided w...Expand for more
hich way I'm going.
Technically speaking, I don't have a classical guitar, so I should make that the priority but the bass is giving me some problems - so it might have to go.
I love to write music and jam - so if you're interested in slapping down some stuff, I'd love to hear from you.
School
I don't remember high school. I think I've blocked it from my memory...
Either that or my brain contracted a virus and I forgot to install Norton and...
...Oh, wait. I'm a Mac geek.
College
I did try a couple of schools after high school, but wasn't really impressed with any of them.
So I decided never to let school interfere with my education. :)
Workplace
It took me years to learn that I hate working for other people. Other people never live up to my expectations.
So in October of 2004, I jumped off the cliff and started working for myself.
Yes, Virginia, not only is there a Santa Claus, but you can make a living off of music without having a major recording contract.
I have just about 50 students in about 2 years, which isn't bad, really. Next stop - storefront. I'm working on getting a place together so I can start expanding.
I have been truly blessed to have the clientele that I have. Everyone has been just as anxious to see the business grow as I have and through the grace of their referrals, I have more students than I thought possible.
Somehow, it's a shame to call this work. I get up in the morning and play my guitar. Then I go to people's houses and teach them to play the guitar. Then I come home and play some more guitar.
Ahhh....the sacrifices we make. :)
