Suzanne's Story
Life
I am happily married to Mark LeGrange. We have been married since 1991. No kids - just cats!! We live in Huntersville, NC. That's a small town adjacent to Charlotte. It is beautiful here in the spring and fall & we don't have all the humidity. Our families still live in the BR area, so we get back to LA at least once a year. I am a full time veterinarian and have been for 13 years. I graduated from LSU in 1984 with a BS in Zoology & entered LSU Vet School in the fall of 1987. I graduated in 1991 with my DVM. From there I went to NC State for a 1 year internship followed by a 1 year stint as a clinical lab animal veterinarian for the NCSU veterinary school. That was only to bide my time until I could get into a residency program. I was in an internal medicine residency program for small animals from 1993-1996 at Texas A&M, and got a masters degree in veterinary pharmacology while I was there. o move back!! I practice medicine at a specialty and emergency practice. I work full time 4 days a week and am on call every 3rd weekend. I treat only dogs and cats and do specialty medicine only. That means, no surgery, no vaccinations or neuters, and no routine veterinary care. I am the person that you would see if your regular vet can't figure out what is making your dog or cat sick. I do ultrasound exams, endoscopy, and other procedures to try to sort things out. I also occasionally assist one of our other veterinarians in doing ultrasounds or other procedures on ferrets, rabbits, chinchillas, birds, and other exotic animals. She treats them, I just help with diagnostic testing. I have been with the same practice now for 5 years. Unless we win the lottery, we will likely stay here until I retire. We have a beautiful 2 story house with a huge unfinished basement on a private cul de sac lot at the top of a hill on a wooded lot overlooking a golf course. Life could hardly get better!
