Suzanne Olsen:

My job is to evaluate the performance of research by the physicians and nurses conducting HIV research for major institutions, such as Harvard Medical School, Columbia University, and Emory University. I ensure that the site follows the protocol, reports accurate data, and is in concordance with all applicable local, state and international laws and guidances. Prior to this, I worked locally, as a cardiac RN, anticoagulation clinic manager, research coordinator, research manager, and ultimately clinical research site director. At the clinical (chair-side) level, I have performed trials for medications for cardiovascular disease, neurological diseases (like Alzheimer's), and orthopedic and GI indications. I am a member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), and formerly held a seat on the Exam Committee, overseeing the creation of the exam that certifies North American clinical research professionals. I've also written professionally: newspaper, internet and magazine articles. My first full-time job was as a reporter and editor, and since becoming a nurse, I have written for numerous medical publications.
