I might best be described as an idealist and a dreamer. Most of my studies and professional life has dealt with plants. My master's thesis was on the evolution of a subspecies in Southern Utah. While finishing my thesis, I worked for the USDA surveying the world wheatgrass collection chromosomes and identification. I worked with DNA sequences in Corn and a wild relative, Tripsacum, for my Ph.D work at Illinois. Continued with the molecular studies of evolution of beans at University of California, Davis. We found that beans originated twice or had two distinct gene pools in South America. Then, I worked with Chromosomal evolution, enginering and painting at University of California, Berkley.
