Tami's Story

Life after high school has for sure been interesting! Never thought that I would be where I am today! =0} I use my first name now - Lela - it was my Grandmother's name. Some people call me Lela Tami and some of my ol' friends still call me Tami - you choose. I have always been difficult I know. =0} Currently I live in Sweet Home, Oregon. It's a small but awesome community to raise children in! I am single and non-dating for 8/9 years. My boys tell me that I need to date - maybe someday I will...for now I wait for the Lord to bring the one He has for me! I am a very proud parent of some pretty amazing young men. 'The Keys' boys' so they are called! Jess is 22 and not too sure what he wants to do with his life in the figuring it out period, he is a manager at McDonald's. Casey and Dakotah are almost 20 years old. Casey has enlisted in the Marine Corps and graduated boot camp the day before his twins wedding day - he is stationed in Twentynine Palms, CA - soon to deploy. So proud of this young man and his commitment to serve in the military and defend our country and the lesser of these in others! A whole new level of "I'm proud to be an American"! Currently he is deployed to Afghanistan. He recently asked his high school Sweet heart to marry him wedding planned for June 2012. Dakotah is a Nationally ranked All-American High School Decathlete and we have traveled the National meet circut since 2005! It has been a ride no doubt. At 16, 2007, he won the Young Men Division at the Junior Olympic Championships with 7,204 points setting an all time Oregon High School Record (even beat Dan O'Brien's record for you Klamath Fallians)! ...Expand for more
Couple injuries put his training on hold for a few years. It has been an amazing experience none-the-less! Dakotah married the love of his life in September 2010 and is now at Oregon a decathlete for their Track Team. GO DUCKS! I also am a foster parent and recently adopted a now 16 year old boy whom I have had for the past 7 years. He loves to run distance and plays bass and learning guitar. He would like to go to college and do something with music. Mainly I do emergency shelter and permanent foster care (where parents have given up or lost their rights). Raised one out on his own named Land - he will always be my boy! And currently am housing a 12 year old named Zak - not sure how long he will be with us. I love being in a position to mentor kids and fostering positive input into their lives! Therefore, besides foster parenting, I coach sports. Although I have coached many sports for the past 16 years, a mainly am focused on XC and Track and Field these days. I am a coach with the High School here in Sweet Home and also am the Head T & F Coach at Sweet Home Junior High. Also I am USA Track and Field Club here in Sweet Home =0} Have my Certifications as a NFHS/OSAA Coach and a USATF Level 1 Coach. I also am an Association Level USATF Official. I feel accomplished!!! =0} That is all I can think of right now. If you have other questions just ask me! Oh I won the most gray award at the ten year reunion (lucky me)... hmmm I wonder if I still would today =0} Just for fun info to share - my hair is actually all natural by the way - NOT colored or bleached! =0} Many women would pay the big bucks to get my look....tee hee!!!
