Tammy's Story
Life
Hello Everyone!!!
After school, I ended up in investment banking....BORING. (No offense to any other bankers out there but facts is facts). I was married for about 8 yrs, No one from Kirby, then got divorced. I changed my line of work and went into the medical field. I started in medical insurance for Baptist Hospital. I filled in one night as a coordinator in the ER and was hooked. From that night on, I worked in the Baptist ER while attending school to become a paramedic. I wish that I'd have realized when I was younger....I'm a medical junkie! I would have become a doctor...too old to start that now though, I'm thinking. I'm totally fascinated with medicine, though. Discovery Health Channel is on my speed dial.
Then along came Jerry and changed my life!
I married Jerry Camp from the class of '86. We didn't even know each other in school. We hadn't spoken before 1996, a few months after our 10 yr. reunion at a Fedex Christmas party. Somehow, we knew each other instantly. Funny how you can spend so many years in school with someone and not know them. I guess it's that clique thing. Boy, we can be blind and stupid at that age. The first night we re-met, we knew we were meant to be together. I know it sounds cheesy, but it was love. Instantly, we got married!
I had no children from my 1st marriage. I was told I would'nt be able to have them. Doctors don't know everything....BAM! With in a year we were pregnant...well I was. ...Expand for more
We have two children now. We had them back to back. It's kinda like having twins I guess.
I'm now a stay at home mom for Kelli and Noah. Anyone else out there that stays at home knows... It really means your 24/7 everything from a wife...mom... accountant...heck, president of your own company to any other job you can think of.
Jerry and I are advocates for people with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, nerve damage an Thyroid CA. I have suffered with this for about 6yrs. For 3 1/2 of them I was completely bedridden. Even though I have endured so much pain, Jerry has always been by my side. I got one of the good ones! People...remind your daughters to be alert and not let the "good guys" pass them by while they're young!
I had gastric-bypass in May of 2005 to improve my health and get out of the dang bed. I have lost about 180 lbs. in 2 years. I'm really pround to say that I'm actually smaller than I was in school. That's not something I thought would ever happen. I just wish that, after all the health benefits I've gained from surgery - lower blood pressure is the biggy - that my daily pain would go away. But, at least, I'm not bedridden anymore! I fight the pain everyday...thank God, I'm alive and take every opportunity to enjoy life.
I would love to hear from Gretchen Gertz! She went to school with us but moved back to Ohio her senior year. If anyone knows of her whereabouts drop me a line. I'm listed Tammy Camp in Collierville, TN.
