Tammy's Story
Life
Married a wonderful man (a marine) Dec. of 11th grade. Withdrew, got my GED, he attended college, I had our 4 children, Became an RN in December 2004. I work in a Progressive care cardiac unit. Been married 22 years. Have 4 WONDERFUL children. My husband is successful in his own nursing home business, we are very involved in our church, and am thrilled that God has blessed me so abundantly! We recently relocated to North Phoenix, AZ after being in Kingman, AZ for almost 10 years. Our oldest son just married and our 2nd son is in Sydney, Australia, studying music. Our 3rd son is 16 and our daughter is 10.
School
I attended Summersill for 1st-6th grades. Then I went to Holy Spirit Catholic school for 7th grade. My mom taught at Pine Valley Christian School and I attended there for 8 & 9th grade. I went to Jacksonville Sr. High for 10th & 11th grade until I married December of 1983. I attended the 5 Year high school reunion even though I did not graduate with my classmates. I always enjoyed school and loved marching with the "Marching Cardinals" although that Mr. Lloyd was a bit strange as history proved years later.
College
I attempted to attend college at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK, where my husband obtained two degrees. I was too tired from working nights at the hospital to ...Expand for more
stay awake during class and really had no desire. While my children were young I decided my dream would be to become a mortician and planned to get a mortuary degree in Mesa, AZ. I then moved away from the Phoenix area and I was unable to take the classes needed to transfer into Mortuary school. I have always worked in a hospital setting and am able to become a registered nurse in our small town. With the need for nurses, and the fact my husband and I have ownership in nursing home facilities...I figured it would be beneficial.
Workplace
After withdrawing from high school after marrying my husband, I worked briefly for Belk Dept. store and also for a daycare program. From there I worked in City of Faith Hospital as a unit coordinator and admissions clerk in the Childbirth Center where I also delivered our first child. I returned to work after the birth of our 3rd son. That was in Glendale, AZ, in ER admitting. Upon moving to Kingman, AZ, I continued my work in our regional hospital here and worked either in the ER as an admissions clerk or on the floor as a unit coordinator. I quit those positions a few years ago to concentrate on college and have more time with our daughter. I graduated from college in December 2004 and have begun my RN career in a cardiac unit at our local regional hospital.
