Tammy's Story
Life
I'm divorced, and raising a teenage son. I had left Montana right after graduation, and we moved back about ten years ago. I had been anxious to get away from my mom and the entire Flathead Valley when I was a teenager and I'm so thankful that something pulled me back up here when it did. I had the chance to find what I'd lost with my mom, and we became such good friends. She's gone now, so I can't even explain how important this move back has been to me.
I live in the same neighborhood that I did as a child, and my son is attending the same schools i attended. I love that! I have lived in Washington and Utah, and Montana is where I want my son to grow up. I want him to have memories of jumping in piles of maple leaves in the fall, and jumping off the dock at Foy's in the summer. Like I do.
We have a variety of pets: three cats, an adorable Pomeranian, a hamster, and a fish. And any hungry stray animal in the neighborhood seems to be welcome at my house. The Pom is pretty jealous of all the other animals, but in general they all get along pretty well.
My sister's 30 year reunion was a few years ago, and it got me thinking about my high school days. I was a nerdy chubby girl, so I spent most of the time trying to blend into the walls at school. In spite of my weight, I was lucky enough to not be teased about it, at least not to my face... Anyway, I was looking through the names of my classmates listed here in this site, and I was surprised by how few names I recognized. I really thought I had paid more attention to what was goi...Expand for more
ng on around me, who I sat next to in which class. But, no, I apparently didn't! Thinking back now, I can't even remember most of the classes I took, or who my teachers were. I guess that's why, even though I've been back in the valley for a few years now, I don't recognize anyone EVER. Oh, every now and then I'll see someone and think, "Geez, he (or she...) looks familiar..." But I don't know why...Is this person a former classmate, or the guy who changed the oil in my van last weekend?
I have a job that I enjoy, but no real "career". I had expected so much of myself when I was younger (had planned to be a lawyer, not sure why, I think I liked the idea of dressing up everyday...), but I've never really had the confidence to really pursue anything specific. I have an office job, I work as a bookkeeper, so I work great hours. And I can multi-task with the best of them! I may not have an MD, or PhD behind my name, but I am happy. We can't all rule the world. Someone has to make sure the fax machine has paper in it and the office is running smoothly.
I mentioned my son earlier, he's the reason I wake up every day. He's a teenager now and he's really mastered the heavy sigh and eye roll. He's smart, has a great sense of humor, and he makes me feel...I can't even think of the words to describe how he makes me feel. But I'll try. Necessary. Complete. Valuable. Special. Important. Loved.
I didn't expect to ramble on so long in this little bio. Wonder if anyone except my sister will read it? All in all, I'm happy, life is good.
