Tammy Gattis's Story
If you remember me, it was most likely from elementary or middle school. (We always seemed to be in the same class together, didn't we?) Or maybe the 9th grade at Abbeville High?(I got married in June, the summer right after that).
Or it could have been in "Spring Valley Trailer Park"! (Where I would hop on every church bus I could that came through the place, from the time I was in the 3rd grade until I was around 12 yrs old).
But then we became teenagers, OMG!
I may have seen you at the foosball parlor, (where I spotted, the 1st time ever saw him, the one "I KNEW" was going to be my husband!
Or was it cruising around the square, or the parking lot at Red Bowie's store? (You know, across from the old hospital, where Burger King is now). We just had to see who was hanging out around town everyday and find out if
anything was happening, anywhere!
I was 13 when I started working for Raymond Trainor, making hot dogs and BBQ Sandwiches, at the little store on the corner of Bypass 28 and HWY 72, "By Pass Grocery", and I can't beleive the building is still there, and it's open, and they're selling hot dogs! I was so scared when I started working there.......with that big man, who was very loud. A Yankee from New Jersey! But after wor...Expand for more
king for him about 5 yrs his family was like my own. I hope they are all doing well...........
I got married about 3 weeks after my 15th birthday, (to the guy I saw at the fooseball parlor), and was then blessed with my son, Vincent Earl Ellis Jr, about 3 weeks before I was 16!
Well, unfortunately I ended up divorced, went to work at Bloomsburg Mills at 17, and then worked at Abbeville Mills until I married my 2nd husband, at 19 and moved to Greenwood.
I waited tables at "Po Folks" (they had GREAT seafood gumbo) an my husband managed the movie theater at Crosscreek Mall. We transfered from there to Greenville, Alabama, and then finally settled down and stayed, in Spartanburg.
I worked at Ryan's after my 2 girls, Trista 25, and Hollie 24 now, were 1 & 2 yrs old, and then decided to become an insurance agent, and I still am.
I hope all of my old schoolmates are doing well also, and my wild & crazy friends that I had then are too!
It would be very interesting to find out what some of you have become, what you've done, where you have been and where all of you are now, after all these years.
I still come down to Abbeville and visit, but it always seems too soon when I have to go back to Spartanburg.
I hope to hear from you!
