Tammy's Story
Life
My Spouse
Through a mutual friend at a local club first and then we double dated one night for dinner. The rest, as they say, is history!
My Kids
I have 2 that I gave birth to and 2 steps. But, they are all mine as far as I am concerned. My oldest, Chris, is 25 and the father of 3, Garrett-8, Trent-5, and Kholdan-1. The next one is also Christopher, he is 23. Joined the Marines, 2 tours in Iraq. Back in Iraq now working as a civilian on a military base. Austin is 16, has the world by the tail and determined not to let go. Bobby is 8 and absolutely a mess. I have 4 handsome sons and 3 beautiful grandsons. They all hold a piece of my heart.
My Job
Attending Robeson Community College to get a degree in Early Childhood, transferring to UNC-Pembroke after that.
Surprise
Bobby was my surprise. I had been told after Christopher was born that there was something wrong inside and my chances of having another baby were ALMOST none. At 36 I found myself pregnant. Talk about shock. I cried for 3 days wondering what was I going to do with a baby. My baby was 14. Now I wonder what on earth I ever did without him.
Heartbreak
On August 21, 2007 my whole world shook to the very foundations. The night before, I was cooking supper for Bobby and myself, Hardy is a truck driver and not at home on this night. Simple fare on those nights Hardy isn't at home, chicken tenders and fries. I was ...Expand for more
waiting for the fries to finish cooking and we were going to eat. The power went off. The fries were just about finished so I took them on up and we ate. My mother-in-law called me and said for us to come out there and stay because it was going to get hot in the house and they never lost power. So we did. The next morning, 6:25 a.m., my cell phone rings. I answer it and it is my next door neighbor screaming "Tammy, come home your house is on fire". I made it home in record time, needless to say and sure enough my home was being engulfed by flames. There were 3 trucks that responded. The source, the pot of grease that I was frying the fries in. When the power went off, I never once thought about turning the burner off or moving the pot off the burner. The power was off so the grease was off. Some of you may think "How stupid can you be" and I thought that too. Bobby was the first one to put it into perspective for me. I was sitting on what was left of the front porch later that morning when he and his granny came up. I said, with tears streaming down my face, "I'm sorry baby. We lost everything". He put his arms around me and told me "It's okay mama. God got us out of there". And HE did. And He has provided for us since. We now have a brand new 3 bedroom mobile home, fully furnished, and out of pocket expenses have been minimal, to say the least. Our God is truly an AWESOME GOD!!!!!
