Tania's Story
Life
I, along with most of you I'm sure, have been busy with life since high school. It's a little weird writing about myself to people who are pretty much complete strangers and even to those who aren't but don't really know much about me. I suppose if anyone actually bothered to get this far into my profile then they must know me somewhat/somehow and are curious as to see what I might be up to.
Well, I'm one of "those." I stayed back in Hawaii and have been here since while my girlfriends all uprooted and left me =( but my guy friends have pretty much all come back. Kind of weird, though, because we still don't see each other or keep in touch much. Being that I only went to the "Academy" I guess that could be one reason why I don't have any real -- no, that's not true. It's just that I'm the type of person who's in and out of my friends' lives at any random moment but we have that type of friendship and understanding. I'm sure it's not too different for a lot of you out there.
Anyway, I still have my plans to just get my four-year degree (looking at Linguistics) but after that who knows. My options are still there, but the decision-making process is a lot more complicated because I have also been busy with my now-5-year-old son. Can you believe it? Yeah, I can't either. But I'm cool with that, though it makes for traveling or working in other states and countries (like a lot of your friends, or maybe even yourself) almost impossible. Maybe that's why I haven't been in a complete hurry to just finish.
Yep, I know I know, a lot of you don't want to go to the reunion because you're thinking that you already keep in touch/see those that you want to stay in touch with. But what about those people in your classes that you met in passing who may not be your friends per se, but were more than acquaintances and a mere part of the class of 97 to you?? Aren't you every bit the curious in seeing how they're doing, how they turned out, what they're up to?? I am. I can think of a few names right now, in fact. So it's next year guys. I'll see you there.
And if not, hope you...Expand for more
live a long, healthy, and happy life.
Don't forget to procrastinate every once in a while -- I do it all the time and my life has been pretty chill (and happy). -- It works, and if you don't believe me, ask Ellen DeGeneres.

School
If I could do it all over again, hell yeah I would. Why not? If someone actually thought high school was, like, the most embarrassing time in your life with acne, cracking voices, the awkward rebellious stage and finding yourself, the endless hours of homework... Okay, so those are the bad stuff. But hell, I always knew life was a lot more than Punahou from 7:30-3:30 Monday-Friday. I'd definitely do it all over again. And maybe change some things too.
Workplace
First job: FunTime Concessions at the Punahou Carnival and others on the island.
Second job: 24-Hour Fitness, where I proceeded to run into a gripload of Punahou classmates!!
Followed by a temp job in some office at Hawaii Loa Ridge. It was interesting to see a bunch of yuppy adults complaining about the "hideous color of the house that was being put up next to theirs" or some car that was parked across their property that wasn't at least a Volvo... Yeah, it was LIKE THAT.
I also worked at On The Juice, a local version of Jamba Juice (and I think, BETTER too). They only have one at the Gold's Gym on Queen St. now.
Oh, for a few years I worked for my dad doing Accounts Receivables. JOY. I still occasionally go down to his office to help when I need that extra $$.
And I worked at Sumo Ramen in Kaneohe -- never cared for ramen, bean sprouts in ramen, japanese curry, chicken katsu, or mochiko chicken until I started working there.
I crossed back and forth on the H-3 for a few months also working at Ezogiku, eventually quitting Sumo Ramen cuz the pay sucked and the owners were just so damn cheap (Chinese so what can you expect I guess??)...
Then again, my new boss is also Chinese, but he's crazy neurotic and I love him for it. I'm at the Ezogiku in Waimalu so if any of you are in the area, stop by and SAY HELLO. I promise not to spit in your food.
