Tara's Story
Life
Working and living in Manhattan and have been for almost 3 years now. I love living the young, fun, single life out here but it's not home forever. I think Chicago is on the horizon next, but who knows? I stay pretty busy with traveling, charity events, going out with friends, attending sport events around the city and viewing new exhibits at some of my favorite museums in the city (especially when I have friends come out to visit). I make it home a few times a year and my parents are still in Rosemount so I'm sure I'll run into a few of you here and there, if I haven't already (besides the people I keep in touch with regularly that is). High school didn't seem that long ago and it's fun to read what everyone else is up to as well!
Best,
Tara Kowalke
College
I made the mistake of not going out of state for college and ended up at St. Cloud State. While I wouldn't change my friends or experiences for the world, I think I would have had much better opportunities elsewhere. That being said I was (g...Expand for more
etting ready to yawn) a Political Science major with an emphasis in Russian Political History (told you it was a snooze fest)! I actually enjoy those topics immensely so it all worked out and afforded me the chance to work at the Minnesota Senate as a Legislative Intern during school. The main project I lobbied for were various bills to help the Twins build their new stadium so when it goes up you will have me to thank ;~)
Workplace
I work in big law firm in midtown Manhattan that is based in L.A. I am currently a litigation paralegal and work on all different types of cases from hostile take overs, to M&A's, to FTC and SEC investigations. It's fun when it's a big name client and you can read about what's going on in the news, but it's mostly pretty boring. I will hopefully be looking for a new job in '06 but I've been saying that for a year. I want to work in sports or as a media planner but I may need to go back to school for that as they are both totally unrelated fields, to be continued I guess..........
