Ted's Story
After leaving West Van High I have led a very fortunate life. I went on to UBC and graduated in Botany - Ecology. Since then I have had what I consider 4 careers. The most important has been being a husband (for 27 years) and father of a 24 year old son and 21 year old daughter. My work career was as an ecologist with the provincial government for 35 years, travelling all over BC to some of the most wonderful areas, often with a helicopter. I was involved in mapping ecosystems, usually for wildlife habitat, and latterly dealing with endangered species and ecosystems, and historical (pre-settlement) ecosystem mapping in the Okanagan and on Vancouver Island. I lived in Kelowna from 1975 -1985, got married and moved to Victoria in 1985, where...Expand for more
we still reside. I recently retired and am involved in a few contracts. The third career involved coaching soccer for over 20 years, usually coaching two teams a year and sometimes 3 teams. I have coached 5 provincial medal winning female youth teams. I am in my 50th year of playing soccer and was on the gold medal winning team at the BC Senior games last year and this year. My fourth career was in writing and promoting a children's book with my wife (who illustrated the book). Life now includes playing soccer and tennis, playing classical guitar, listening to classical music and classic rock, reading, travel, native plant gardening, enjoying food and wine, etc, etc. So much to do - so little time.
