Ted's Story

Life Well, nowadays I'm living in Gilbert, Arizona (a SE Phx suburb) in a large single story house on horse property with no horse... lol, but I love the elbow room. I own a couple of businesses, including a DJ biz that I still do mostly bi word of mouth referral these days. I'm married with 3 kids... the oldest an honor student in high school - she didn't get THAT from me, the youngest special needs from a serious illness he miraculously survived as a toddler, and the middle a clone of me with a much better perspective on life than I had at his age... lol. My wife (Moon Valley class of '88 - yep, I robbed it) teaches infant/child swimming survival and retired from radio, where we met back in 1989. Thankfully, all my immediate family are alive and healthy at this point in time. After high school, I joined Covenant Players (CP) which is an int'l repertory theater company/ministry performing drama and music worldwide and found the Lord after going to train there, thinking I already knew Him... I didn't. I committed to and spent five years touring with them all over the US & Canada and lived in LA during the summers. In those five years, I had a lifetime of experiences including the Lake Placid Olympics and several other cool things. I did 3700 performances and traveled nearly a million miles. After CP, I went to ASU to major in broadcasting when life took a dramatic turn following a life-altering CO gas poisoning accident... no more gas for me, thanks. I rebuilt my life and altered career paths, falling into radio, meeting my future wife (also in radio) on a blind date and eventually starting my own DJ entertainment business out of popular demand... always the entertainer... lol. I lived in Scottsdale at my second home for a few years which became an Albertson's (cha-ching), got two yellow lab pup sisters (RIP). After being 'forced' out bi those developers, I built my third home in Chandler with 250 feet of unfenced lakefront and married there, had a daughter which mellowed me big time, then my first son. We outgrew that house after six years with no fe...Expand for more
nce and kids, built our fourth... my dream house here in Gilbert... decked with it all, including a lavish backyard with resort-style pool and enormous waterfall with cave. Several events (including my second son) ensued including a heavily media-covered neighborhood Charter School battle where some of you could have seen me on tv a few times and well, eventually, we ended up moving only a couple miles away as we also outgrew THAT house and its awful HOA... never again. We now live in comfort and quiet in a nicely vegetated older 'rural' neighborhood in the heart of Gilbert with acreage where my wife's now a Master Instructor. I love Gilbert schools... we originally moved to Gilbert for their schools. I have a gazillion home projects to do here and am not moving again for a long time. I've had season tix to the Cards & D-Backs since day one and saw our state's first pro sports championship in 2001 only three rows from the field... one of my five greatest life moments, along with my wedding day and three kids' births. I currently attend Lifechurch here in the Valley (lifechurch.tv) and I LOVE it... no pretense or 'holy' or snooty church people which I've never liked. I've run into a few of you upon occasion here and there as well as my teachers even and yes, I've even DJ'd a few 'Slope events - in fact, there are not many schools I've not been to in this entire state. I hope to finally attend a reunion this upcoming year now that I can pick and choose which events I book out. Hard to believe it's been almost THREE decades since we were in school together. I have a couple of other work-related projects in the works which I might update here at some future point in time as well as restoring my '68 GT Fastback again. So, there's my life in a few paragraphs for those of you who made it this far... lol. I can be contacted through my y'ahoo or my space (yeah, I have one of those) at tedngilbertaz if you need to reach me directly as I'm not yet a gold member. Heard from a couple of y'all... neat to touch base again. Take care and keep in touch. Go Vikings!
